#Organic research receives less than 3% of federal research funding, and yet, research is critical to help farmers address the challenges they face. I am incredibly proud of Clif Bar’s $10M Organic Research Endowment investment, and so lucky to work along side so many incredible organic researchers including: - Erin Silva, - Kokoasse Kpomblekou, - William Tracy, - Houston Wilson, - Julie Dawson, and the incomparable - Steve Jones. Today, I’ll be (mentally) taking them with me to Capitol Hill as we advocate for more federal funding for Organic Research in the Farm Bill. If you want to know more about our Endowments, please check out the second in our Organic Video Series. (Another labor of love, almost 1 year in the making) * #OrganicWeekDC #sustainableagriculture
In honor of #OrganicWeek, CLIF is committed to shining a light on organic farming. Today’s video is the second in our Organic Series and provides insight into the need and purpose for organic research to help organic farmers address their biggest challenges. Along with our funding partners, CLIF BAR has invested $10M in five Organic Research Endowments at leading land grant universities, planting the seeds for long-term positive impact to our food system. Our goal is to inspire other brands to make similar investments so that organic farmers and sustainable agriculture practices can continue to thrive. We are committed to making transformational changes together. Learn more about CLIF BAR’s organic commitments at https://lnkd.in/gDbxE8rN

In the #organic industry, Matthew Dillon likes to say that “success is in succession.” When we invest in organic farmers, we’re not investing in a crop cycle. We’re investing in the long-term success of the farmer, in the longevity of the farm. This allows us as a company to meet both our current and future sourcing needs. And it allows our farmers to more effectively plan for the future. In this way, organic farms can continue to grow alongside our business, creating the conditions for current and future farming generations to thrive. * #sustainableagriculture
For more than 20 years, a significant part of our investment in organic sourcing has been working with farmers to support and advocate for transformational organic farming practices. We are grateful to our long-time partners like the Jura Family who have joined us on our journey and helped champion the benefits of organic farming. Watch the video below to learn more about the Jura family’s inspiring story and how they are making a meaningful impact on people and the planet. Together, we’re creating a more sustainable future for generations to come. For more information on our commitment and investments to organic systems, visit https://lnkd.in/gDbxE8rN

👩🌾Reaching the #F2FStrategy goal of 25% EU organic farmland by 2030 is a big challenge. Not only do we need thousands of farmers entering into the #organic sector. We also need qualified #advisors giving farmers professional advice in how to convert their farms and how to optimize their farm processes. 💪 Last week we kicked of the #OrganicAdviceNetwork project in #Brussels that aims to establish a network of organic advisors across 34 European countries. The network will be animated by in-person and online knowledge exchanges and courses for organic advisors, young graduates and conventional advisors interested in getting skills in organic farming. 🧐 The consortium of 18 partners including Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau FiBL met at IFOAM Organics Europe to take part in the project's kick-off meeting, where the main objectives, challenges, and next actions were discussed. 🚀 Exciting steps are upcoming to strengthen the organic advisory services into an EU-wide advisory network on organic agriculture!

Together with Organic Farming Research Foundation and many other partners, we are asking Congress to give organic its fair share of investment in the Farm Bill. Despite organic products making up 6% of the total food market and over 15% of the produce market, less than 2% of USDA research budgets are allocated to organic research! Organic farming systems are inherently designed to enhance local ecosystems through practices like cover cropping, crop-livestock integration, and the use of perennials. These methods have been scientifically proven to increase soil organic matter, improve soil structure, and foster robust microbial communities—all of which are essential for long-term fertility and productivity. But persistent underfunding in organic research risks stifling the growth potential of the organic sector and our ability to fully realize the benefits of organic agriculture. Both the House and Senate Farm Bill provisions fall short in their funding for organic research. Ask your Member of Congress to support organic research in the Farm Bill.
