How can biosolutions contribute to achieving the #SDGs? A new report explores the global potential of biosolutions to combat climate change, increase biodiversity and ensure a more sustainable industrial production. Using nature's own toolbox of microorganisms and fermentation technology, it is possible to replace fossil-based methods with biological solutions, and the overall impact is an estimated total reduction of 4,300 million tons of CO2, equivalent to approx. 8% of the global annual CO2 emissions. The report also discusses how biosolutions such as bioplastics, algae-based solutions and enzymes are contributing to several SDGs. The analysis has been published by the Alliance for Biosolutions in the slipstream of the UN General Assembly and New York Climate Week. This often leads to the degradation of these commons.
