The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and Formula One Management (FOM) play pivotal roles in the world of Formula 1, each with distinct responsibilities that ensure the sport operates smoothly, competitively, and commercially. Understanding the interplay between these two entities is crucial for anyone interested in the intricacies of F1 governance and management. - The Role of FIA in Formula 1 The FIA, or Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, is the governing body for many auto racing events, including Formula 1. It is responsible for the sport's regulations, safety standards, and the licensing of drivers, teams, and circuits. The FIA's most prominent role in F1 is to licence and sanction the sport, ensuring that it adheres to the technical and safety standards set forth. This includes the provision of technical personnel, such as the Technical Delegate, and Race Control, to enforce the technical rulebook during Grand Prix weekends. The FIA also plays a crucial role in the development of new regulations for the sport. This process involves collaboration with FOM and the sport's teams, ensuring that changes move from concept to regulatory reality swiftly and positively. Additionally, the FIA is involved in promoting road safety worldwide and represents the interests of motoring organisations and car users globally. - Role of FOM in Formula 1 Formula One Management (FOM), a subsidiary of the Formula One Group, owned by Liberty Media, handles the commercial aspects of the sport. FOM owns and operates the commercial rights to F1, including formulating the race calendar, negotiating with event organisers, licensing TV broadcasts, and managing the logistics of transporting the F1 circus around the world. FOM's responsibilities extend to ensuring the financial security of the race clubs and breaking down the Euro-centric profile of car racing, thereby making F1 a global spectacle. FOM's role is also to manage the distribution of television revenue among the teams and to decide on the inclusion of new teams in the championship, assessing their potential value to the sport. This commercial entity works closely with the FIA to ensure a comprehensive and fair championship, identifying weaknesses in how the sport is governed. - Collaboration and Conflict While the FIA and FOM have distinct roles, their collaboration is essential for the smooth operation of Formula 1. However, there have been instances of conflict, such as disagreements over the admission of new teams to the championship. Despite these challenges, both entities strive to work together for the betterment of the sport, with the FIA focusing on regulation and safety, and FOM handling commercial rights and promotion.

What a fantastic end to the racing season! As proud sponsors, we're thrilled to be a part of supporting each race as @caydengoodridgemotorsport competed in Canada and the US, with excellent management by @vpxmotorsport and the entire crew! AV-CANADA & AV-AMERICA are proud sponsors of the #porschegt4rs (a.k.a Peppermint) and the reason this sponsorship is extra special to us lies in the synergies between a racing team and an event team! Both an event team and racing team require the following two synergies to succeed: • Communication and Coordination: Effective communication and coordination are key to the success of both racing and event teams. In a racing team, clear communication between the driver, pit crew, and team managers is essential for executing successful pit stops and race strategies. Similarly, event teams must communicate effectively with vendors, sponsors, and attendees to ensure that the event runs smoothly. • Problem-solving: Both racing teams and event teams must be prepared to handle unexpected challenges and obstacles that may arise during a race or event. Quick thinking, adaptability, and problem-solving skills are essential for overcoming these challenges and ensuring a successful outcome. Stay tuned for our next video and the final synergy that drives racing and event teams forward! Business Relations Expert♦️Published Author of the book "Secrets of a Social Butterfly"♦️Account Manager at International SOS♦️Executive MBA candidate at IMD
As a proud Dutch author, I’m particularly excited to see the extension of the Global Partnership between Formula 1 and Heineken—another iconic Dutch brand. This collaboration beautifully demonstrates how two global giants can come together to create something greater than the sum of their parts. Formula 1 stands for precision, speed, and innovation, while Heineken, with its rich Dutch heritage, brings quality and a sense of connection. It’s a reminder of how finding the right partnership allows both sides to thrive, much like in business when building meaningful, long-lasting relationships. Did you know? 💁♀️ There have been seventeen Formula 1 racing drivers from the Netherlands since 1952! Max Verstappen is the most successful Dutch driver to date, being the only one to have won a Formula 1 World Championship, taken a race victory, or secured a pole position. (I didn’t know either!) I can’t wait to see how this partnership evolves and continues to make a global impact. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eeDZwGCJ ----------------------------------- Hi, I'm Lynn. #feinsider #nissanproud #nissanemployee Know about Formula E (post-3) Practice makes perfect: How Free Practice works in Formula E Depending on how many races there are over a Formula E weekend, there will be 2 or 3 practice sessions. If there’s only 1 race, there will be 2 opportunities to practice; one the day before the E-Prix and one the day of the E-Prix. If the weekend consists of a double-header, another practice session will be added to the second race day before qualifying and race. Each 30 minute practice session is timed, although the results of this don’t influence the running order of qualifying or the race. It’s just a chance for teams and drivers to see how their cars behave, familiarise themselves with the circuit and make any necessary set up changes ahead of the big events later. Will know about more in following posts #feinsider #nissanproud #nissanev #sustainability #environmentalsustainability

"A great challenge of life: Knowing enough to think you're doing it right, but not enough to know you're doing it wrong."
Singapore beats Las Vegas in being frictionless. "Some cities are more optimal for street racing than others. “You need to provide a layout that balances racing, spectators and business needs,” said Zaffelli. “In Vegas, the public transportation structure, population density, and dimensions are totally different than in a place like Singapore, which is more European rather than American-style. The first year is also the most difficult. It usually takes three years to get to the right level.”" "“In Singapore, you can just lift everything — there is not a single nail put down,” said Jarno Zaffelli, the lead track designer of the upcoming 2026 Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. “I don’t know if this is the case of other street circuits, but in Singapore, as soon as the race is finished, five hours later, everything is open.” Okay, I will confess - Singapore got lucky, when we went for the F1 Circuit design, we had just finished the MBS integrated resort, refurb the roads at Marina Bay, had a new bridge, got someone to build, own and operate a circular white elephant ... and in that space that we had no plans for to build an F1 paddock- we decided that we could get it done. Now the F1 race in Singapore is more than just about cars - there are concerts every night; and the public transport system learned how to move people in and out quickly. It was also a place where bankers and tycoons congregate because the city is seamlessly connected by road to the airport that is seamlessly connected to every other city in Asia - and most of the world. There is no need to drive 2 hours out, and then 2 hours back to civilisation. Good things sometimes comes in small packages. Also not everyone wins when the F1 or Taylor Swift comes to town. Telling a shop that is going bust that the macro impact was in billions is cold comfort.
F1 and IndyCar Street Races Can Be an Economic Boon — and a Big Headache
