Corporate motorsports hospitality growth potential in India Both F1 and MotoGP started in Europe, but they are now truly global, and there is a truly global fan base. Originally with a European fan base, this has expanded to the Americas and then Asia, Australasia. Fans from Europe come to Singapore and India, and Asian fans go overseas to popular races. Valencia and Barcelona are popular destinations for MotoGP, for example. F1 in 2023 is held in 22 circuits globally, starting with Bahrain and concluding in Abu Dhabi. MotoGP in 2023 is held in 20 circuits globally, starting with Algarve (Portugal) and concluding in Valencia (Spain). I caught up with my friend from Barcelona Ms Griselda Foguet Plaza who is Hospitality & Experiences Director of Dorna Sports which runs the MotoGP business globally. “It was the first time that we did MotoGP in India. I felt there is a huge and much bigger potential for MotoGP in India. We are of course coming back next year, which will be bigger and better” said Griselda san. MotoGP just held its India debut race just in October 2023. MotoGP India had over 110,000 spectators join in its inaugural year. Corporate motorsports hospitality entertainment is big. Top B to B customers are invited to motorsports events. Entertaining top customers at the F1 is really big. The Paddock Club for VIP entertainment in Singapore costs a whopping 11,000 USD or more for a 3 day pass. Free flowing champagne, food by Michelin star chefs, and more. For MotoGP India it can start from 2,000 Euros for a 2 day pass, but prices are likely set to increase next year. VIP corporate motorsports entertainment at hospitality suites are more and more popular - that wine and dine at the highest levels to ensure better business relationships and deals. For those who are not at the hospitality suites, in other words the majority of spectators, food and drinks can be on the pricey side at the food stalls, but given the fantastic atmosphere of enjoying food and drink at motorsports events, customers are happy to pay that bit extra. F1 may come back to India, and MotoGP will only grow in India, it will be exciting to see motorsports grow in India, and VIP corporate hospitality too. I was bearly old enough to remember the last F1 race in Adelaide in 1995, but I do recall the hype and atmosphere that sourounded that race as a boy and still have a red toy Ferrari (driven by Michael Schumacher at the time) purchased for me by my parents from my local home town Australia Post which still encapsulates those moments for me. With that potential and excitement that was built up from the races in Adelaide from 1985 onwards (last race in the annual F1 calendar over this period), it has been so very disappointed to see the golden years of F1 go to the benefit of Melbourne and Victoria (especially with how much history and input SA across many venues has contributed to developing the 'Australian Grand Prix' event right back to the 1920s! Formula E is an emerging spectacle, one that reflects the clean energy branding we are pushing here in SA and aligns with the transitioning of our local economy to attract high tech companies and Business. We still have a strong motor sport heritage here in Adelaide / SA dispite lossing our symbolic locally founded and made Holden's and local car industry with Mitsubishi also closing down their factories. Formula E is quickly gaining popularity each year and is increasingly relevant to the next generation of motor fans with EVs growing in numbers within our communities seemingly on a daily basis. Peter Malinauskas, Brand South Australia, the addition of formula E in Adelaide while it is still early and growing would be the perfect boost to reignite the falling relevance of the Adelaide500 race now Adelaide's car industry is now non existent and the formula now relies on imports with no real local comnections. 🇱🇻 Latvia 🇱🇻🛫 --> 🛬🇫🇮 Finland 🇫🇮 🌍 World Rally Championship proposes these mythical fast gravel roads for the last high speed rally of the season 🚀🌲! It's rally week and what a better place than the 73rd edition of rally Finland for a summer break?! 😎 Well the probability to hold an umbrella ☔ for few days is there but there are plenty to discover, see, hear and feel in this North European country. Lakes, long summer days 🌄, cold winters❄️, forests, nothern culture and... it is a pilar of rally history 💪🏻. Rare would be a rally season without WRC appearance of a Finnish crew. To be the fastest on these gravel roads, it needs some specific driving inputs, team experience and few other things 🛠️🚗. Jumps are making flying 🛫 the rally cars through the forests. Landings reveal the art of vertical load absorption. Dampers and the car "flight control" are developed to their best. Then despite the high speed 💨, it is not fully straight and steering precision gets quite important and that won't come only from steering system itself 🛠️. Overall it says that you can hardly fight with a "chewing-gum" chassis on the start line. 🌡️Heat might not be a topic to focus for too long there but aero, braking, revs limiter, gear shifts and few other fields are to masterized to launch the rocket properly. Since we last looked at the "numbers", WRC decided to keep hybrid unit for a while 🔋👍🏻. Perhaps its usage can still evolve to be closer to serial industry usage but it is also not dramatic to use the tool for different targets between racing and road cars sold to people. Promotion is good 😉. WRC still has plenty to give and show. Other rally series are good too (national and international ones). Rally remains a good sport to push the limits with a similar looking car than your own road cars. Last WRC event took place in Latvia 🇱🇻 and that was a fast pace land. Idea number four: Circuit Italia. Located 30 minutes from the Newcastle CBD, the region has been waiting for a circuit to be built to feed the strong car culture that it’s famously known for. And whilst motorsport will celebrate what looks to be an awesome track to drive, will it host a Supercars event? Now one thing we do have to respect is that this is a private facility, so at what capacity they choose to have the circuit open to everyone is totally up to the owners. But… In a recent V8 Sleuth article published 4/10/2023, it was noted that circuit manager Damien White reached out to Kate Washington MP for Port Stephen’s, Steve Kamper - minister for sport Nsw, John Graham- minister for tourism Nsw and to Motorsport Australia and Supercars about the track but had yet to hear a response. Keeping in mind, this article was published in October and this may have since changed, especially given the Newcastle street circuit now finishing up. We wonder if conversations have started shifting to Circuit Italia? Whilst the asphalt is down and the circuit is nearly ready, I’m surprised City of Newcastle stated that they will put there support behind Cessnock City Council to host a Supercars event despite this purpose built facility which is not only nearing completion, but is also just half an hour away from the city centre. Circuit Italia has offered a solution for all to be happy, even the east end resident approve of it, so its unusual that Newcastle City Council hasn’t more vocally given this option consideration. Regardless of what discussions are happening at the moment, I think Circuit Italia would offer a long term solution for all motorsports events in the Hunter for many years to come that we can all be proud of.

Singapore has been hosting the Formula One Night Race since 2008. Some 260,000 spectators attended F1 in Singapore this year. September is the month of the Formula One (F1) in Singapore. I attended the Singapore F1 again after a break of a few years. The mood at this year’s Singapore F1 was electric. Busy. Fun. International. And, truly exciting. There is something about fast cars - speed, danger, suspense, pure excitement, and more. F1 cars race at a top speed of some 360km/hour, which is a little bit more than the Shinkansen Bullet Train. It is truly amazing to see drivers in their cars whiz past you, pure energy and so very noisy. They say, F1 races typically reach 140 decibels, just below the level that causes permanent hearing loss! A lot of things happen on a F1 circuit. Spectacular crashes. Cars which break down. Pit-stops which only take seconds to change the tires. Cars which overtake and are overtaken. After 62 laps going at over 300km/hour, the time difference between the first and second place are usually seconds, or less than a second! It’s an exciting, fast paced, very very interesting race.
