When it comes to activating culture, ping pong tables and parties matter. A lot. If you don’t agree, as the former head of internal marketing at Yahoo and head of MOJO when Verizon acquired Yahoo, I will prove it. The complaining I hear from people who believe they’ve cracked the code on how these don’t activate culture is another example of the medicority and lack of a solid plan I see in teams and companies. A happy hour can be one of the most effective employee engagement activities you could spend minimal money on, if you focus less on the bar tab and more on the impact of a campaign it can create.
