This is the hardest period I have faced of owning my own business (Just entering into my 3rd year). I'm quick enough to shout when things are going well so it's important to shine a light on the tough times too. Bigger deals have paused projects, the market is quieting down and we have invested heavily back into the business which means more pressures on costs. To add to this we had a competitor actively go out of their way to take down an asset really important to us - which we have now finally resolved. However, I am the happiest I have been. The focus recently has been a great deal of work going in to scaling Level, controlling the controllables and getting intentional with time and where I spend it. This is the first time when things have quietened down my mood has not changed with it. I remain happy. The main things that have helped me in my mentality; > I have reduced alcohol intake - only two glasses of red wine in 3 months. > The saying "What you become is so much more than what you get" has really helped put things into perspective for me. The skills I have developed in the last year, the conversations I am having and the results we have delivered far outweigh a quiet period. > Fitness. I find the gym really boring therefore I have got into boxing training as it's great for fitness and also running - I'll be doing the 10K in May (That will do for me, didn't fancy the half/full marathon!) > The old Cliche of cold water swimming! But it does really help me, one of the things that really brings me into the present. We delivered our very first Level event in partnership with the Farm Club and it was mega. > Laser focus. Not spending time doing tasks that don't contribute to the vision. Spending time around people who back you and vice versa. It makes things so much easier when you have a great team around you too.
