Looks like the client newsletter made it out last week, so our monthly batch of new resources for folks to partner with has been sent out to those that have at one point done or sought business with us. If they don't find what they are looking for, they delete it, but only 7 people have unsubscribed out of the remaining 732 folks on the email list. Gotta be doing something right? So the Resources page is getting a relaunch later this week to make it easier to use. So if you are confused about how to sort through all the chaos there, I hear you. I can't find anything on there either. Folks: while I'm drowning in communications about some of my most recent posts (sorry! I'll come back to those topics and requests and connections soon, I promise!), maybe I can change the topic for long enough to encourage folks in Western PA/OH/WV area to seriously consider donating to PublicSource. News matters. We all know this because the bias in news over many, many years is what has led to our poorly-educated, poorly-oriented, conspiracy-loving ways and to so much divisiveness. We need honest, factual, deep, relevant local news as a salve for these wounds of bias. That's PublicSource. They cover real news from our region (greater Pittsburgh area), and they no it without a loss of fuss. PublicSource has covered the actual story behind housing instability in the region. They have audited the use of public funds and shown where the money went. They provided a super in-depth set of stories about property taxes (one of my favorite subjects in Allegeny Count--really!). They cover real estate development, community activism, art, housing, compensation, politics, transportation, economic development and more. This week on Querical: how a fundraising team is very much like a middle school swim team. Did I really just compare us to middle schoolers? Yes, I did, and in the best possible way... For the uninitiated, individual performances and “wins” might be the defining feature of a swim meet. But this hides a bigger truth about how teams can actually WIN a meet. The head coach of our inimitable middle school swim brigade, my friend Joe Schroeder (accounting professor and chair of the Kelley School of Business Graduate Accounting Program) is a numbers guy, as you might expect. He is really into how you shape the team’s entries into meets to get the most points and win the meet as a team.
