As part of our team close-out each week at BFY Group we share our "wins of the week". Whilst another team meeting isn't high on everyone's agenda on a Friday afternoon, I absolutely love the 30 mins we spend together before the weekend. Why? 1. Hearing the wider team share their success is inspiring and invigorates me ready for the next week ahead. 2. Having that moment of personal reflection to consider my own wins is helpful to clear my head of the chaos and remind me that even in the hardest weeks I've done something that has had a positive impact on others. 3. I am not a fan of the Team Norms session at the beginning of a project. I don't think there's anything wrong with setting out norms and expectations, but I've always felt like it tends to be some generic list that doesn't change much and it is what it is and much like a typical project charter, you make a big deal out of it the first week of the project and then it becomes some relic. And then I watched this 4 minute video. https://lnkd.in/eP3z7gyS And got some great tips for Team Norms that Stick. Like start each meeting with a reference to the norms. And when a norm is broken, talk about it. And fix it. I also really like the idea of, as a team, every month, pick 1 norm to focus on. I think this is so powerful because it is team driven, and focused, and habit forming. Focus on creating a habit out of 1 norm for a month, and move on to another.
