A bipartisan, national solution on paid leave is a goal worth fighting for. HR Policy is working with members of the House and Senate working group to explore a workable solution. In response to the Congressional Working Group, HR Policy firmly endorses the establishment of a nationwide standard, empowering employers to provide equitable access to paid leave for employees, irrespective of their workplace location. Comprehensive paid leave policies serve as a foundational benefit for our member companies, and we emphasize the importance of their continued existence. We will continue to engage in discussions with lawmakers, offering our policy suggestions and collaborating with all those aiming to advance paid leave benefits. The Illinois paid leave law for Jan 1, 2024, had regulations released on April 30th, 2024. Here are some highlights: Carryover - employer & employee may mutually agree in writing and on an annual basis that unused PTO with be paid out to the employee vs carried over into the next year. Front-loading - employers must give written notice to the employee informing the employee of how many hours they are given in PTO before their start date. FYI this is for the state of IL. Chicago/Cook County has additional regulations in addition to these. Best practice: Review this legislation in full and ensure compliance with the law: https://lnkd.in/gqwS2Vhf Message me directly to set up time to discuss ways to: - Proactively manage compliance - Communicate updates to the workforce - Implement organizational goals Let’s strategize together!
