CEO at Science & Technology Australia

Are you brave enough to take on the challenge of leading policy work to ensure the world's next innovations and ideas get to market or into policy? If so, consider this job working with Jane Ryan and the team at DASSH | Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. I may be on the STEM side of the sector these days, but I know all too well that STEM is only as good as our HASS colleagues; a true ying and yang. The skills from the HASS disciplines helps us understand markets, development effective user interfaces/experiences, develop business models and ensure effective marketing, amongst many, many other considerations. But, we have a policy challenge in our society in understanding and valuing HASS. Lets change this! For example: 1) I remember hearing about a photovoltic scientist who gave innovative flexible cells to design students to work out new and creative use cases, one result was shade clothes with integrated solar for outdoor areas. #createch at its best. 2) Artificial Intelligence is only as good as the user experience (i.e. ChatGPT) and the ways the underlying model's analyse, categorises information and access training datasets. HASS is having its moment to shine! Australian Academy of the Humanities, Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, Australian Council of Learned Academies (ACOLA), #HASS, #humanities, #socialscience
