For centuries, Indigenous communities have lived in harmony with nature, their wisdom and resilience offering invaluable lessons. Yet, today, countless challenges threaten their way of life. RYTHM Foundation, our social impact arm, is committed to supporting these communities. In Malaysia, they focus on uplifting the local indigenous community, called the ‘Orang Asli’ in the Malay language. A recent roundtable by the Foundation brought together key stakeholders to discuss pressing issues facing the Orang Asli, with Chairperson Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran in attendance. The stakeholders gained insights on areas for improvement, including education, livelihoods, and land rights. To address these challenges, the Foundation launched 'Sikulah Bateq,' a culturally relevant teaching program for young Orang Asli children that focuses on preserving their language, culture, and traditions while providing them with a modern education. The Foundation is also collaborating with partners to improve sustainable livelihoods, healthcare, and cultural preservation within the community. I deliver structured basic learning information to adolescents for innovative enterprise and creative empowerment.
HOW AND WHERE WE PERFORM: THIS IS HERITAGE. Last Monday, January 8th, I became a Digital Computing Studies Instructor to implement principles and methodologies that respond to the interests of students and the school in this ever-evolving age. Due to insecurity, incessant kidnappings and loss of lives, I moved out of Isanlu Isin, Isin Local Government, Kwara state late last year which put my learning facilitation programme on hold. Towards my unwavering pursuit of African learning and organisational development. I took up a part-time role at Pastor Akinwunmi Memorial Academy, Modakeke, Ife East, Osun State. Realising the influence of teaching, basic learning, the essentials of digital and the use of advanced technology - I look forward to this opportunity. There might be a change in strategy, but the goal remains intact. It is another way of working out solutions to meet children's learning needs seamlessly. Not forgetting to help the youngsters discover and familiarise themselves with the exciting tools at their disposal to streamline universal principles, with individual peculiarities. In line with the core foundation of education as the source of relevant information and ideas, to identify required data to perform experiential tasks. As the bridge of human interrelationship with the various relative concepts. In creative, innovative and inspiring ways for effective use and efficient applications. To achieve competence and empowerment by self-discovery, purpose and fulfilment towards sustainable development of our societies and nation-building. #learning #innovation #esdg #development #education #social #inclusion #pedagogy #science #art #service #leadershipdevelopment #design #childlearning #colossophy #colossal #philosophy #instructionaldesign #education #socialpractice #humandevelopment #particapatoryart #illustration #concept

In our journey towards a more inclusive and equitable world, we often encounter challenges that demand our dedication and innovation. A group of unsung heroes: #educators who tirelessly strive to provide education to #statelesschildren who have been denied even the basic right to formal education. These educators are on the front lines, breaking down barriers and opening doors of opportunity for children who have known only #exclusion and #marginalization. They embody the spirit of resilience and hope, offering not just lessons in math and language, but also a lifeline to a brighter future. Through #partnerships with local communities and innovative educational programs, we are working to ensure that every child, regardless of their legal status or background, has access to quality education. But we cannot do this alone. The challenge is great, but the potential impact is even greater. I invite you to join us in this crucial endeavor. Whether through advocacy, support initiatives, or spreading awareness, each of us has a role to play in shaping a more inclusive future. Together, we can empower educators to transform lives and provide hope where it is needed most. Let's ensure that no child is left behind, and that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can dream and achieve their full potential. #InclusiveEducation #TransformingLives #EmpowerEducators #HopeForTheFuture
🗣️“What makes me sad is that I can't help them. In school, we create a utopia, a fantasy, a hope. Come to school, get knowledge. But in reality, they can't go anywhere.” For the teachers of Malaysia’s learning centers, the line between offering encouragement and caution is a delicate one. Stateless children face limited employment opportunities after schooling, yet the pressure to ensure they don’t fall behind weighs heavily on educators. Speaking to Teacher Izad at our most recent teacher training event in Sabah, he explains: “I feel like I've lost motivation. So I need this to inspire me to keep going.” For this reason, providing community support and professional training is a key pillar of Calls Over Ridges’s educational action. Today we celebrate the second anniversary of our teacher training program’s launch. Starting from one secondary school with 13 teachers in Jiri, Nepal, just two years later we now have hosted events attended by 70 teachers, such as our 2-day event with the Coalition of Learning Centers Sabah last March. Thank you to everyone who helped us reach this significant milestone. Let's demonstrate our solidarity with teachers everywhere and express gratitude to those who have shaped our learning. #NGO #alternativeeducation #learningcenter #Sabah #Malaysia #CallsOverRidgesMalaysia

Ever wondered how health education & literacy can be taught by integrating them with civic engagement through a project-based approach? For the 2024/2025 academic term, I have been assigned to teach Form 4 Pendidikan Jasmani dan Kesihatan (Physical and Health Education). Although my forte is teaching language skills, I take this opportunity to explore content-based teaching. So, as usual, I plan to implement the project-based approach to some of the topics. Topics covered (students' choice): 1. Personal and reproductive health 2. Mental and emotional health management 3. Building a concept of a functional family 4. Human trafficking (All of these are part of the PJPK Form 4 national curriculum) The end product is the students will produce digital media content (podcast, TikTok video, video documentary, infographic) by providing civic awareness relating to the topic (Aligned with Thrusts 1 Strategies and Initiatives of the Digital Education Policy - Digitally Fluent Students). This time, each group will be assigned a mentor who will also evaluate their PBL product. This is a 3-month project. The mentors are individuals who have been actively involved in the Malaysian advocacy scene in various policy areas, so the connection with the topics and their passion/involvement are conveniently matched. I also got reps from 'Monsters Among Us' (NGO focusing on violence against children) and 'Project Liber8' (NGO focusing on human trafficking issues) on board! 🥳. Building partnerships outside of the school is important to provide an authentic and enriching PBL. 📦Mentor pack: Ethical guidelines✅ Invitation letters issued by my school, endorsed by my principal✅ Form 4 PJPK Curriculum & Assessment Standard Document (DSKP) for the mentor's reference (only provided the relevant topic) ✅ Evaluation form ✅ All of these have been sent out to these individuals and I am excited for my students to authentically engage (virtually & asynchronously) with Malaysian activists. Thanks to virtual and digital means, teaching and learning can be more enriching! *The pic shown here is the textbook, the book that inspired and guided me to create this project, and the signed invitation letters. #pbl #civicengagement #healtheducation #healthliteracy #projectbasedlearning #civicawareness #civiceducation

Block Solutions Indonesia is pleased to support Classroom of Hope and Happy Hearts Indonesia Indonesia's program in rebuilding schools across Indonesia, in particular those that were affected by the natural disasters such as the 2018 Lombok earthquakes, or those that are in moderate and major damage conditions. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Indonesia 2023 report, a staggering 8.7% of 148,975 elementary schools, 5.57% of 41,986 middle/junior high schools, and 4.26% of 14,236 senior high schools across Indonesia are in major damage condition. Additionally, 44.74%, 38.26%, and 29.45% respectively are in moderate damage. There's still much work to be done, and we're committed to making a difference – together. 🌟 #Education #RebuildingIndonesia #Partnership
It's official - SMPN 3 Tanjung is finished, inaugurated, and open for students and teachers!! 🎉 We're excited to share this video showing the journey of this school that has risen stronger from the challenges of the 2018 Lombok earthquake. Thanks to a united effort between Happy Hearts Indonesia, Classroom of Hope, Block Solutions Indonesia, and the unwavering support of our generous donor (and on-the-ground documenter) Fraser Fox, CFA, we've turned a vision of resilience and sustainability into reality. If you've been following our updates on Instagram, you've probably seen some of the behind-the-scenes stories and posts from Fraser, (our generous donor) who also spent three months onsite in Lombok to witness the building process and forge a heartwarming and unforgettable connection with the students and community around the school! Fraser's time in Lombok ended with the inauguration of the new Block Classrooms at SMPN 3 Tanjung - a memorable celebration filled with dancing, speeches, poetry readings, a ribbon-cutting, and even some karaoke! This project highlights the strength of collaboration and the incredible impact we can have on the environment while providing SMPN 3 Tanjung's students with a secure and well-equipped space to learn and grow. It's a powerful testament to what we can achieve together for the future of education and our planet. Interested in following in Fraser's footsteps to sponsor a school?
