The project "Building an Inclusive and Circular Textile Waste Value Chain in India," with Concordia Textiles, Enviu, and Purfi , within the framework of the develoPPP funding programme, implemented by GIZ India on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is coming to a successful conclusion. Over the past nine months, Saahas Zero Waste has proudly served as a knowledge partner for the project. Together, we have achieved the following remarkable milestones: Development of Textile Waste Management Methodology (TWMM): A comprehensive document outlining various sorting practices for pre and post-consumer textile waste and the requirements of textile waste recyclers. Explore the knowledge products developed under the project here: https://lnkd.in/gTwASWM2 Creation of teaching aids: Based on the TWMM, these aids feature appropriate designs, textual and visual cues to build capacities of informal waste workers, municipal waste workers, workers working with post-production waste and with solution providers, for effective sorting practices and improved resource recovery from textile waste. Training programs: We conducted 53 training programs on textile waste sorting, reaching 3003 waste workers across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Maharashtra. The programs engaged 1985 municipal workers, 537 informal workers, and 481 workers from sustainable solution providers, with 53% female participation. Events: Organised a networking event in Delhi and a national webinar to bring together stakeholders from the government, textile industry, innovators, informal sector, and policymakers to present the learnings from the project, foster partnerships, facilitate knowledge sharing and advocate for strategic actions in the textile industry. The networking event featured 14 speakers and 73 participants, while the webinar had 12 speakers and was attended by 155 participants. Watch the webinar recording here: https://lnkd.in/g599b9zH As we conclude this project, we are inspired by the strides made and the partnerships formed. Together, we have set a solid foundation for a more inclusive and circular textile waste value chain in India. We look forward to continuing this journey towards a sustainable future. 🌐Learn more about the project: https://lnkd.in/gW52vSPX and watch the project video here: https://lnkd.in/gVARaEt3 #CircularEconomy #TextileWaste #Sustainability #WasteManagement Meghana Kshirsagar | Isha Sharma | Sankalp Dubey | Astha Khubele | Annie Philip | Tanuja Rao | Manjunath Venkatram | Vivek Changappa | Charan Muthanna | Shiny Alex Alexander | Nanditha Sulur | Gigi Mathews | Greeshma Hegde
