We'd like to take a moment to celebrate two anniversaries at the Foundation! Happy anniversary month to our Director of Communications, Vasey Coman, and our Philanthropy Coordinator, Brigid P.! 🥳 Vasey has been with the Foundation for nine years and has led the charge in telling stories of our impact and our donors' generosity in the region. Her dedication to reaching as many people in our region has made it possible for us to grow as an organization. And as a key member of our Big Day of Giving team, she has built countless connections with our nonprofit partners and touched many lives. Brigid is celebrating her first year with the Foundation! Her work in stewarding relationships with our donors and advisors has been fundamental to our work. Her initiative and gumption in tackling new projects and jumping in feet first to help us evolve has been an honor to witness. We thank both Vasey and Brigid for their years of service with us! 🧡

As the Vice President and Head of Advisor Engagement, I lead the Donor Relations, Advisor Services and Regional Director teams in service of our mission to increase philanthropy in society.
During my career as a financial planner, I often began conversations asking clients to consider what would happen to those they loved after they were gone. It is an important question to consider. Equally important is understanding the role philanthropy can play in answering this question. Please join my knowledgeable colleagues Janos and Ethan as they dive into the strategies you can use to help clients identify their philanthropic legacy.

It was an honor to serve RaiseUp Families as their Executive Director for nearly 4 years. In that time, the organization experienced unprecedented growth: ✅ Expanded Board of Directors by 50% ✅ Doubled the number of families (clients) being served ✅ Client outcomes improved by 100% (average income increase in signature 9-month HandUp program went from 35% - 71%) ✅ Client graduation rate improved from 80% to 91% ✅ Revenue growth from $450,000 to $1,000,015 (donations from private sources) These outcomes are a result of the Board of Directors and staff working together towards a common goal, each person utilizing their unique skills and abilities in their individual role to help the bus arrive at its desired destination. They are the result of hours and hours of innovation, hard work, and determination. As RaiseUp Families celebrates its 30th Anniversary of stabilizing families from vulnerable communities who face unexpected financial crises so their children can focus on their education, giving them the opportunity for a better life, it needs a full-time leader with passion, vision, and experience to lead it forward. I could not be happier that Kate Yadan will pick up this torch and lead RaiseUp into the future! "We know that change is a natural part of life, and those who embrace it grow while those who do not slowly die, metaphorically. Two of the largest obstacles to change are ego and pride. Moving out of our own way is the toughest battle most of us will face. Giving up our seat for someone else, stepping down when it's time for someone else to step up, and gracefully exiting when we have added all the value we can, are what we should all strive for." -Angela Burgess, Are You on the Right Bus?
We are THRILLED to annouce a big change at RaiseUp Families! After a rigorous search, Kate Yadan was named our newest Executive Director as of March 1, 2024! Kate's knowledge and experience are unparalleled, and more importantly, her passion for stabilizing families from vulnerable communities so their children have the opportunity for a brighter future knows no bounds. We are incredibly grateful to Angela Burgess for sharing her vision and leadership with our clients, our staff, our board of directors, and our community over the last four years and wish her well in her future endeavors! Come out and welcome Kate at our 2024 RaiseUp Families Graduation Celebration! Sponsorships and Tickets are on sale now: https://lnkd.in/g3pn6Bjk

To be successful in philanthropy, we need to be thinking about our donors as partners towards a common goal. Those who support our organizations do so because they believe in the mission and wish to see the organization be successful. They want to be partners with us as those successes are realized and they want to know the impact their support has provided. For donors to feel like our partners, there must be a level of mutual respect that starts in our philanthropy offices with culture, specifically centered on gratitude. Culture is defined by our leaders and shaped by our common language, behaviors and attitudes. Think about the language your team uses when you talk about philanthropy. Is it rooted in gratitude?
