In the name of cross-Strait ties.... 傅崐萁, the KMT party whip in Taiwan's legislative yuan, led a delegation of 16 members on a two-day visit to China. 傅 said the main purpose of this trip was to foster peace and stability between Taiwan and the mainland. Additionally, he hopes Beijing authorities will allow the resumption of mainland tourists in visiting Taiwan, as well as lifting the current bans on Taiwan agricultural and fishery products. Prior to the trip, there was no shortage of commentary and analysis by "so-called" China and cross-Strait experts. At best, they were shallow interpretations of the intent and potential outcome of this KMT visit during the new legislative session. Furthermore, there was not a single mention by these "experts," pundits and the media on how the trip was conceived and the selection of the KMT members, including the key sub-committees in which they serve on. Unreported, it behooves Taiwan observers to monitor the upcoming legislative session and the critical role in which the KMT will play in the revision of 「国安五法」, and the implementation of「三个排除」- two key legislative pieces that are of utmost concern to Zhongnanhai. Finally,  傅 and the KMT delegation were met by 王沪宁, Politburo standing committee and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), in Beijing. 王's welcoming remarks, while in stock official language, is interesting considering the KMT delegation's visit follows 「马习二会」, the recent Blinken visit, and, the lead up to the May 20 presidential inauguration of Lai Ching-te. As previously mentioned, I first met 王 and a select few of his fellow Fudan colleagues in early 1988 - months before he embarked on his U.S. trip as a visiting scholar. 王 was just beginning to make a name for himself in China's academic circles and was identified as an early member of a loosely-formed Shanghai think tank for the late 江泽民. Since then, 王 has risen through the party ranks to become CCP's "ideology czar." All this anti-China hate is based on two things: 1. Political bigotry—China's political system is not based on Western democratic values. Democracy is the superior system. 2. Jealousy—China's success threatens to undermine what they now enjoy (global dominance, capitalism, democracy). People may begin to believe China is superior. The West is doing everything it can to hide the truth about China from everyone. DON'T show how beautiful China is. DON'T show how peaceful and harmonious China is. Portray China as dark, dystopian, backward and evil. The problem is that the West can only do this for so long before the world learns the truth. They've been doing this for over a decade now, and they're losing the battle.
