Today is Earth Day. 🌍 It highlights the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, and encourages us to fight for a brighter future. This year’s theme is ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of all plastics by 2040 for the sake of human and planetary health. So, how can we help? 👐 There are plenty of incredible organisations around the world that are on the ground, changing the planet for the better. One being The Ocean Cleanup – a non-profit that develops technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. They’ve removed over 9 million kilograms of rubbish from the environment to date. Their mission is to clean up 90% of floating ocean plastic pollution by 2040. Our Earth Day donation to The Ocean Cleanup will go towards researching, extracting, and monitoring plastic pollution in oceans and rivers globally. Back on dry land 🌳 Trees are integral to all life – we exist because of them. So, we’re delighted to announce Jersey Trees for Life as our new environment pillar charity. Their mission is to plant, protect, and nurture trees while educating and inspiring the community about their environmental and social importance. Jersey Trees for Life and National Trust for Jersey launched a fund dedicated to the restoration of Jersey’s trees, hedgerows, and woodlands following the damage caused by Storm Ciarán. They’re working to replace storm-damaged trees on land for public amenity and enjoyment, and ensure the right trees are planted in the right places across the island. Saltgate will support Jersey Trees for Life’s projects through upcoming charitable initiatives and events with our team. Looking after our planet should be a year-round commitment. We’re proud to solidify this and drive positive change through our new partnership with Jersey Trees for Life and donation to The Ocean Cleanup. #EarthDay #Enviornment #JerseyTreesforLife #TheOceanCleanup #FundAdministration #Jersey #JerseyCI #Luxembourg #London

This #EarthDay, let's commit to reducing plastic use and making sustainable choices. Plastic pollution is a major threat to our oceans and wildlife. To make a difference, CHP employees are actively involved in regular litter picking and beach clean-ups. One of our Operations and Relationship Managers Jaime Towers recently joined a #volunteer team at Pilling Sands, Lancashire – a haven for wading and migrating birds. Their work helps prevent plastic and rubbish from entering waterways, protecting ecosystems and ensuring seafood safety. All our employees receive up to two days of paid volunteering leave annually, contributing to our #socialvalue goals. Volunteering allows employees to give back to communities, work with local charities, and support environmental initiatives like litter picking. CHP teams have planned volunteering activities near our healthcare buildings in the coming months, often partnering with NHS teams and LIFTco partners. As part of the NHS family, CHP is committed to supporting the aim to be the world’s first net-zero health system – a Greener NHS. #Sustainability #PlasticPollution #EarthDay2024 #PlanetVsPlastics #NHSEstates #GreenerNHS #volunteering Read more about how CHP supports our tenants’ sustainability goals: https://lnkd.in/eb25A-7R

City to Sea's #EarthDay appeal with Big Give is now live! 🎉 Meaning every pound we receive over the next week, will be matched at no extra cost to you. Our rivers are crisis! Our reliance on single-use plastics is adding unnecessary strain to these already struggling ecosystems, with a shocking 80% of the ocean’s plastic pollution travelling via our rivers 😲 Now more than ever, we need your help to continue our vital campaigning work to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. Recent Marine Conservation Society beach clean data shows more than 480,000 items of litter found on UK beaches - with drinks-related litter one of the most found! By donating to our Earth Day appeal, YOU can do something about this. For ONE WEEK ONLY, every pound will be matched – so your £25 becomes £50 to go towards powering our campaigns like Refill to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. https://lnkd.in/eaRECQkF

Net Zero Waste Case Study: Garden Centre Disposal We were recently called to a large garden centre that had been affected by recent storms. Despite a lot of damage, a significant quantity of stock items were salvageable, and our team sprang into action to ensure they were handled responsibly. From the damanged items, we managed to save approximately 150 tons of waste, including wood and plastics, sending them to our trusted recycling partners for processing. Recognising the value in community support, we decided to donate the planters to a local charity, ensuring they found new life and purpose. In just two days, Evoque cleared the site entirely. By diverting materials from landfills and promoting reuse, we're proud to have played a part in minimising environmental impact. 🌍 Go to our website for more interesting case studies like this one - https://lnkd.in/e8FFuKqN #Evoque #NetZeroWaste #Sustainability #CaseStudy #Recycling #CommunitySupport #EnvironmentalImpact #GardenCentre #StormDamage #CircularEconomy

Hi to all my network connections, I wanted to share again more information about the ocean cleanup group who are making huge strides forward to clean the world’s rivers and oceans. What they are doing is fantastic for the environment. 👏 Each and every year, millions of tons of plastic are washed into our oceans, with the majority being emitted from rivers. The ocean plastic crisis devastates wildlife, ecosystems, communities and livelihoods around the world. Urgent action is required to repair the damage humanity has caused. The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization developing and scaling technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. In order to achieve this objective, they use a dual strategy: intercepting plastic in rivers to cut the inflow of pollution, and cleaning up what has already accumulated in the ocean and won’t go away by itself. If anyone would be interested and able, you can donate to the cause by hitting the link below. 🙏 I am not an employee or affiliate in any capacity, just love what they are doing and want to spread the word as best I can. You can donate any amount you are able, anything helps to keep them going in their quest to clean our rivers and oceans. Thanks. 👍 Donate here - https://lnkd.in/em2NpS-U Video credit - https://lnkd.in/eqnrchyC #theoceancleanup #cleanfuture #cleanrivers #cleanoceans

Neighborhood Forest is #1. At least according to this recent ranking of top Earth Day charities by Impactful Ninja. We are mentioned alongside (and ahead of) other charity juggernauts like the Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, and One Tree Planted. If we compare our budget to the budgets of these reputable nonprofits we are a tiny seedling in a forest of giants. Ranking and Estimated Budget: #1 Neighborhood Forest $0.5 Million #2 EARTHDAY.ORG $3.8 Million #3 Re:wild $63 Million #4 The Ocean Cleanup $52 Million #5 Sierra Club $151 Million #6 National Forest Foundation $21.6 Million #7 Global Footprint Network $1.4 Million #8 One Tree Planted $56 Million #9 The Nature Conservancy $1.3 billion #10 Clean Air Task Force $31.5 million So, why is Neighborhood Forest #1? Consider these numbers… Neighborhood Forest is made up of a small team of 7 individuals – this includes both part-time and full-time employees. Since 2021, our small yet mighty team has… - Partnered with 40+ corporations and individuals that have donated at least 1,000 trees to our cause - Engaged over 2,000 volunteers across North America to manage and coordinate the distribution of over 167,000 trees to children in all 50 states (plus Canada) - Inspired over 9,500 individuals to donate at least 3 trees to kids - Mobilized over 500,000 volunteers (mostly children) to plant and care for their very own tree We are honored and delighted to be recognized as the #1 Earth Day charity. We are humbled and star-struck to be mentioned in the same breath as these incredible organizations doing phenomenal, planet-saving work. Yes, it’s subjective and we’re not in it for the recognition, accolades, or rankings, but this is still worth a shout-out to the loving, caring, and dedicated individuals who make up the Neighborhood Forest team and to our growing family of supporters, partners, and volunteers that have turned this little seedling into a behemoth force for good. Happy Spring, Happy Earth Day! https://lnkd.in/dbu8rBWV

🌳 The Paradox of Time: A Tale of Trees and Sustainability 🌳 It takes merely 5 minutes to cut down a tree, a living entity that has taken years to grow and mature. Yet, the process of planting and nurturing a new tree to its full growth takes anywhere from 3 to 4 years. This stark contrast in time frames is a powerful reminder of our responsibility towards our environment. As we continue to advance and develop, it’s crucial that we also remember to give back to nature. After all, the oxygen we breathe, the water we drink, and the soil that grows our food, all come from the very environment we live in. As founder of an NGO the Tree Huggers Foundation. Our mission is to plant and nurture as many trees as possible, to help offset the rapid deforestation happening around the world. But we can’t do this alone. We need your help. I urge all corporations and individuals to consider making a donation to our cause. Your contribution will go directly towards planting and caring for trees, helping to create a greener, healthier planet for future generations. Remember, it’s not just about planting a tree. It’s about giving life to a new ecosystem, a home for countless organisms, and a future for our children. Let’s embrace the paradox of time, and invest our minutes today for a greener tomorrow. #TreeHuggersFoundation #Sustainability #Environment #DonateNow

Happy Arbor Day! The first Arbor Day was observed back in 1872 with the planting of more than one million trees in Nebraska! Arbor Day is now celebrated worldwide by schools, community organizations, and local authorities. Trees keep our neighborhoods clean and green by giving us fresh air and contributing to a healthier environment while also providing cooling. We can all commit to reducing our carbon footprint by taking eco-friendly actions and making an impact towards a more sustainable future. Corporations are now moving away from fossil fuels, and as individuals, we can donate to deforestation revivement efforts, start a garden, plant a tree, etc. What steps will you take to make a positive impact on our planet? #ArborDay #EnvironmentalCare #Sustainability
