In the fast-paced world of contracting, it's easy to overlook our mental well-being amidst tight deadlines and demanding projects. But our mental health is just as important as hitting those milestones. As part of mental health awareness week, we wanted to highlight the importance of bringing your mental health to the forefront of what you do. Whether you're a seasoned contractor or just starting out, we all face unique challenges which can take a toll on our mental health. From managing multiple projects to dealing with uncertainties in the market, it's essential to prioritize self-care and seek support when needed. Here are a few ways we can support each other: 🟣 Check-in regularly with yourself and your colleagues. Sometimes a simple "How are you?" can make a world of difference. 🟣 Normalise discussions around mental health, break the stigma and create a safe space for open dialogue. 🟣 Seek resources and support. Whether it's through therapy, support groups, or online resources, there are plenty of avenues to explore. 🟣 Practice self-care. Remember to take breaks, exercise, and engage in activities that bring you joy outside of work. 🟣 Know when to ask for help. There's strength in reaching out for support when you need it most. Let's commit to prioritizing our mental well-being as much as we do our professional success, and together, foster a community that values and supports each other's mental health. #MentalHealthAwareness #ContractorsCommunity #SupportEachOther Sanderson | Sanderson Projects

As we approach Mental Health Awareness Month in May, it's crucial not only to acknowledge the challenges of poor mental health but also to consistently provide support and strategies to combat these issues throughout the year for our team and family members. At Five Star, we view mental health as an ongoing battle, not limited to just one month of awareness. This continual effort, with the help and support of our teammates, can make a significant impact on each other. “Nobody can save you but yourself, and you're worth saving. It's a war not easily won, but if anything is worth winning, then this is it.” — Charles Bukowski We wanted to share our company-wide challenge, which is to “Shout out” an employee. Here are some shout-out ideas: 🙏 Expressing gratitude to a colleague for sharing knowledge or assisting with a project. 🤜 Celebrating a teammate's recent success or milestone 👍 Appreciating the consistent hard work and positive outlook of someone in the team. Together lets help positive feedback become the norm and not an afterthought.

MD of Faber Building Services Ltd. Going above and beyond to deliver full-service defect repairs for house builders.
We all need to do better. When it comes to mental health, we still have a long way to go. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed or like we have to do some big act to make any sort of difference. But what we really need to remember is that there is strength in numbers. And the biggest changes happen when lots of people take small, consistent actions collectively. So, while there will be people who argue that one day of awareness isn’t enough, it does help if lots of people get on board with it. It could be one post that saves a life. One conversation that sparks change. You just never know. This year, the theme is mental health in the workplace. We already have a number of initiatives to support our team, such as mental health first aiders, the Bupa EAP plan, Faber days for socialising and the Lighthouse app for regular check-ins. Of course, there is more we can do, and we will keep asking, ‘what else do the team need?’ One of the biggest challenges in many cases is the stigma still attached to talking honestly about our feelings. This is particularly prevalent in construction, as well as many other male-dominated industries. So, if you only do one thing this week, start talking more openly about mental health and creating a safe space for people to open up. None of us wants to hear that awful news about a mate from work and then wonder what we could have done differently. Try and do it differently now. #WorldMentalHealthDay #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness

May is always a busy month. As Mental Health Awareness Week begins this week, I think about the importance of maintaining balanced mental well-being, especially as we go through the hustle and bustle of busy work and dealing with things in our personal lives. This week gives us a push to pay close attention to our mental well-being, come together and explore avenues for perpetuating a culture of compassion and solidarity around mental health. This year's theme, "Compassion Connects," advocated by the Canadian Mental Health Association, underscores last year's #MyStory campaign - we've heard time and again about the importance of bringing our authentic self to work, cherishing friendships, while keeping our mental wellbeing in front and center. Sharing our experiences will continue to help chip away at the stigma around mental health. While the journey is challenging and ongoing, witnessing those around me bravely wear their hearts on their sleeves, especially those in our GTA Mental Health Network, reaffirms that we're advancing in the right direction. Let's keep supporting one another and collaboratively cultivate an environment where sharing stories about mental health becomes the norm. #CompassionConnects #MentalHealthWeek

Everyone deserves good mental health 👌 But if you're going to talk the talk, then you've got to walk the walk too. 🚶♂️ And with over half (53%) of UK Gen Z consumers believing brands that advocate for better mental health 'do it for show', there's a real danger of promises around mental health simply becoming empty words. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we're doing our best to take positive steps forward for our team, by: ✔️Creating a dedicated mental health resource space on our new Intranet, which all the team will be able to access ✔️Planning regular staff surveys, so our approach to supporting mental health keeps evolving and meeting our team's needs ✔️Empowering our qualified mental health first aiders, Emma Lewis and Katherine Hawkley, as well as James Montgomery, who completes his qualification in June Our co-founder, Jodie Williams, said: "Good mental health cannot be overstated - happier teams lead to happier, well, everything! Ultimately, Pod is our people, so making sure they have the right support in place will always be our top priority." #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

As we come together to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month/Week, it's vital to acknowledge the impact mental health has on our lives, both personally and professionally. Let's use this time to amplify our commitment to mental well-being, not just this month, but every day. In our workplaces, creating a culture of understanding and support for mental health is paramount. Encouraging open conversations, providing resources for mental health education, and promoting self-care practices are essential steps toward building a healthier work environment. Let's also remember that mental health is not a one-size-fits-all issue. Each person's journey is unique, and it's important to approach mental health with empathy, respect, and inclusivity. By breaking down stigmas and barriers, we can create a more compassionate society where seeking help is not only accepted but encouraged. Together, let's pledge to prioritize mental well-being, support each other, and work towards a future where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. #MentalHealthAwareness #EndTheStigma #WellnessAtWork

Embracing Transparency in Our Mental Health Journeys In a world where authenticity and vulnerability are increasingly valued, sharing one's mental health journey on social media has become a powerful tool for connection and change. Madeline Stoiber's and Louise Rumball's stories exemplify the courage it takes to open up about one's struggles and the transformative impact it can have not just on the individual, but on a global audience. Transparency, as Stoiber and Rumball highlight, is not just about sharing; it's about creating a space where openness, honesty, and love flourish. Their journey from personal struggle to social media influence underscores the importance of being real about our challenges. Yet, they remind us, protecting one's peace and privacy is paramount. Sharing should never come at the expense of one's well-being or the respect for others involved in our stories. The fight against stigma is another crucial aspect of sharing mental health experiences online. By presenting an accurate representation of mental health issues, content creators like Stoiber and Rumball challenge misconceptions, reduce shame, and foster a community of understanding and support. As professionals and individuals, we can learn from Stoiber and Rumball's approach to social media sharing. Their stories encourage us to be mindful of the impact of our words, to prioritize our well-being, and to contribute positively to the ongoing conversation about mental health. Let's remember, sharing our journey can be a beacon of hope for others, but it should always be done with care and respect for ourselves and our community. This week casts a spotlight on an aspect of our lives that we shouldn't overlook - our mental health. It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and it's high time we embrace open discussions! Caring for our mental well-being is just as crucial as maintaining our physical health, yet it's often relegated to hushed conversations. We ask ourselves, why is this the case? Is it because of stigma or perhaps discomfort? Whatever the reason, it's time to break down those barriers. Speaking up not only heals but also provides support and fortifies our communities. Your mental state is significant every single day, regardless of whether you're at home, in the office, or anywhere else. At H Squared Talent, commitment to this cause is part of our ethos. We advocate for a workplace environment that consistently prioritises mental health, ensuring it's infused into our daily rhythm. Let's ensure we're fostering spaces where support for employees transcends policy and becomes a concrete practice. 📢 Here's our call to action: Be part of the dialogue. Share your own experiences or simply lend a supportive ear. It's about time we make mental health care a regular part of our conversations. #MentalWellbeing #WorkplaceCulture #EverydayMentalHealth #EmployeeSupport #MentalHealthAwareness #WorkplaceWellness

Are you ok? As we step into Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m reminded of how important it is to speak openly about our own journeys. Growing up, I faced many challenges and traumas that tested my resilience. But rather than letting them define me negatively, those experiences shaped me into the person I am today—stronger, more compassionate, and driven to make a difference. Mental health isn’t just a buzzword; it's something I’ve navigated personally. It’s taught me that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness—it's a powerful act of self-care. As a Nurse Practitioner in primary care, I see the impact mental health has on our overall wellbeing daily. I’m proud to contribute by providing compassionate care, advocating for accessible mental health resources, and supporting my patients through their own journeys. To everyone struggling: You are not alone. Let’s continue to create spaces for these conversations—not just in October, but year-round. And to my fellow healthcare professionals, thank you for the work you do to improve mental health outcomes in our communities. #MentalHealthAwareness #NursePractitioner #PrimaryCare #MentalWellness #HealthcareLeadership #Resilience #BreakingTheStigma
