Why diversity works? I have a non european background - (Afghanistan). And during my professional career the work i enjoyed the most was with people from different backgrounds. I always felt that teams consisted of different backgrounds performed better and in IT, innovation is everything and diversity is key to unlocking it. Teams with different backgrounds and perspectives generate more creative solutions, better understand global customers, and make stronger decisions. "Only 54% of Belgian employees consider their organisation a Great Place to Work, which is below the European average of 59%, indicating that Belgian employees often feel undervalued and insufficiently engaged. The findings of the European Workforce Study are an indication that Belgian leaders should prioritise appreciation and strong #leadership with a lasting focus on #inclusion and sustainability."

It is unacceptable that a company like #BarryCallebaut does not deliver on its promises and intentions regarding social relations. Barry Callebaut refusing to fully respect European social dialogue  Barry Callebaut announced the BC Next Level programme, a worldwide reorganisation plan, towards the end of February 2024. This plan comprises the closure of two production sites and 2,500 redundancies, 900 of which in Europe.  While local procedures are still in progress, an additional closure of a production site in Intra, Italy, was announced last week. During a consultation this week in the European Works Council's steering committee, members sought clarification on the intentions of the additional closure. However, ❗ management gave no answer to the question whether additional redundancies or closures were to be expected. ❗ management failed to address the growing uncertainty and concern. ❗ management made no attempt to rebuild trust with the employee delegation. More so, the employee delegation established that the European social dialogue rules on information and consultation on the additional closure had not been followed. The European Works Council also fears that the scarce information that has been shared now, does not reflect the full impact on the Barry Callebaut employees and sites and that information has been withheld. More impact on already affected sites, as well as additional closures cannot be ruled out. This is why the members of the European Works Council are questioning the sincerity of the long-term intentions of Barry Callebaut and its majority shareholder Jacobs Holding AG. The European Works Council will therefore investigate what legal options exist to obtain the necessary information that needs to be given by law and to force proper social dialogue. In an ultimate attempt to keep the social dialogue going and to still give the European Works Council sufficient information, IUF, the international trade union federation, wrote a letter to the top management in Zurich back in July. The letter remained unanswered, showing a complete lack of respect for the social dialogue. We demand from Barry Callebaut that they: 👉 fully respect the local and European social dialogue. 👉 take the information and consultation of the European Works Council seriously.  👉 clarify the full impact of BC Next Level. 👉 restore the trust that was very seriously damaged. #WEarebarrycallebaut #WIJzijnbarrycallebaut #chocoladehart #chocolateheart #wewillfightforeveryjob #BarrryCallebaut
