Considering real estate or other alternative investments? As nuclear professionals, we are typically high earners, so it's essential to understand which investor category we fall under; accredited or sophisticated. Here’s a quick breakdown: 🔷 Accredited Investor: An accredited investor meets specific financial criteria. To qualify, you need either: An individual income of $200,000 (or $300,000 with a spouse) for the last two years ✨OR✨ A net worth of over $1 million (excluding your primary residence). 👉Accredited investors can access a broader range of investment opportunities. 🔶 Sophisticated Investor: Sophisticated investors may not meet the financial thresholds of accreditation, but they possess enough knowledge and experience to evaluate the risks of an investment. 👉This is more subjective, relying on your investment experience and understanding. Knowing which investor category you fall into can help you navigate and optimize your investment opportunities more effectively this outage season. 🧐If you would like more info on the difference between these two categories reach out! Very happy that the Financial Times picked up on BCA Research’s Nuclear Renaissance Special Series. My latest piece on the subject compared the fundamentals behind the 2000s uranium bull market with the current situation. Long story short: The current bull market has much further to run. I keep being amazed by the value proposition of nuclear energy. In fact, the more I look into it, the more I see uranium, and more generally risk assets related to the nuclear fuel cycle, as a must-have within portfolios.
The underlying supply-demand fundamentals for uranium are far stronger than those during the 2000s bull market and might actually be the strongest ever, said BCA's European Investment strategist, Jérémie Peloso, CFA. Retired Doer. If anyone wants help I'm available for Dosulting. Championing The Human Relationship Side of Enterprise. Transforming from Theory X to Theory Y.
Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock. “Infrastructure is one of the most exciting long-term investment opportunities as a number of structural shifts reshape the global economy,” he said. “We believe the expansion of both physical and digital infrastructure will continue to accelerate as governments prioritise self-sufficiency and security through increased domestic industrial capacity, energy independence and onshoring or near-shoring of critical sectors.” Domestic industrial capacity and energy independence. They are linked by SMR’s. We cannot electrify our economy without reliable, stable, low cost electricity. The only way we can eliminate fossil fuels and decarbonise our economy is by the combination of renewable and nuclear energy production. BlackRock have just agreed a $12.5 billion deal to buy Global Infrastructure Partners showing confidence that things are going to change. The United Kingdom must position itself at the forefront of this huge shift.

Absolutely....Data centre owners are keen to rely on the carbon free electricity Nuclear can provide but have not yet been able to appreciate the investment, risk and timelines associated with bringing new capacity online. Will utilities or developers be able to fill the gap?

Join me at the upcoming RIA Conference #RIACon24 during the panel on "Innovations, Developments, and Opportunities: Canada’s Energy Transition," on May 29 with Dan Wicklum (CEO, The Transition Accelerator/ L’Accélérateur de transition) and Andrew Simpson (Mackenzie Investments). I will discuss why the transition finance dialogue needs to evolve from commitments, transition pathways and reporting to innovating risk management and financing mechanisms to mobilize capital to expedite commercial deployment of a wide range of climate technologies such as green hydrogen, SAF, LDES and modular advanced nuclear, which remain in precommercialization stages. With a number of first pilots launched in Canada over the last couple of years, expediting wide-scale deployment will be challenged by huge funding gaps, scaling, factors hindering market readiness and need for data for analyzing and managing new, untested risks. Addressing these challenges is complex and will necessitate changes to traditional technology commercialization pathways and project financing frameworks. I will share the latest research I lead at The Geneva Association, engaging leading #insurance and #reinsurance #companies in collaboration with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Breakthrough Energy , Worley on benefits of early engagement of insurers risk engineering teams with climate tech project stakeholders from pilot stages and early project finance phases, to expedite identifying and understanding of the untested risks and co-developing innovative risk management strategies to enhance risk-adjusted returns to mobilize capital and addressing climate tech market readiness.
