“We’ll take the world-class scientific community we have here and be the partner they need to get to the next level.” Watch Peter Kyle, the new Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology set out his priorities to maximise the UK’s potential in science and tech to grow the economy, transform public services and improve people’s lives 👇
Great to see my good friend Peter Kyle taking up the reins at Department for Science, Innovation and Technology: a pragmatic modernising pro-business New Labour reformer to his fingertips. Looking forward to do all I can from the backbenches to help support the #InnovationEconomy in helping drive National Renewal for post-Brexit post-Pandemic Britain 🇬🇧 in an increasingly serious global climate emergency & fractured & dangerous Global Race for Science & Technology sovereignty. Government; the only industry where people get jobs being in charge with zero knowledge about what they are in charge of. You can go from being an aid worker to being in charge of Science and Tech.
Convenient. He’s been my MP for quite some time and lives round the corner. I may pop round and knock 🤣😎
Please broaden the range of R&D fundings as we struggle for now to see where our new blockchain technology fits. Or how its AI layer can equally be funded with a true R&D. PS. Our technology just won a London award for innovation (to be announced in September).

Congratulations on your appointment! I am looking forward to the transformation of access to and interaction with government services, not just to get time back, but also to better utilise data held about me to get stuff done, as has already been proven with DSIT's introduction of Right to Work, Right to Rent and DBS checks using a digital identity - an increase in the efficiency of our interactions will improve the economy.
Excellent but remember there is such a thing as #knowledgeeconomy - our academic community can lay foundations for a bright, sustainable future for all of us if allowed to thrive. The trick is to engage with this community with more than “short term fiscal rules and spreadsheets”.
Hello Peter Kyle, please can you help the 50's and over, who have worked in IT jobs, but now find themselves unemployed and finding it hard to get new IT jobs, they are being overlooked because of ageism, from the likes of HR departments and Agencies around the UK. Please help them also to reskill older IT workers instead of bringing in Migrants to fill roles that older IT workers can do. Thanks for reading.
Secretary of State - Congratulations not unlike comments below - new Hydrogen Innovation is disenfranchised due to criteria for Funding Competitions - because as stated the "Direction for Hydrogen has been decided - that is premature. HyPulJet = Concept for Hydrogen and Oxygen Combustion and cuts out the wasted energy which is H2 at 99.999% pure for H2 Fuel Cells The design to use both H2 and O2 cuts what is in effect the waste of about 30% of the electrical energy used to disassociate the water - HyPulJet makes best use of the energy. Open Innovation - anything with 50% chance of successful development Fully Fund to Fail or to suuccess -- Take a 20% stake in new innovation to cover the funding - successful ventures will return money to the Fund
