We are deeply grateful for the generous support of the La Jolla Kawanis! Last Friday, our CEO Tina Rose shared with the Kawanis group about our current need for mentors, and received a check from Kawanis representatives, Susan Callahan and Bob Steck, in support of our mentoring programs. A touching moment followed when a Kawanis member shared his heartfelt story of reconnecting with his Little Brother after many years and learning about the incredible impact he had on his life. Thank you, La Jolla Kawanis, for helping us make a difference in the lives of so many young people! Together, we are building brighter futures. #ThankYou #MentoringMatters #BBBS #CommunitySupport

🌟 A Journey of Hope: Transforming Lives in Opelousas 🌟 Every week, we dive into the heart of nonprofit endeavors across our beloved nation, unearthing stories of courage, resilience, and unwavering hope. This week, our spotlight shines brightly on #HopeforOpelousas (HFO), a beacon of light in the community it serves, and led by Loren Carriere. Founded in 2008, HFO embodies the transformative power of love, operating under the conviction that "Love Changes Everything." At its core, HFO is dedicated to empowering the youth and their families in Opelousas through comprehensive educational support, neighborhood outreach, and the cultivation of meaningful relationships. 📚 Empowering Through Education and More HFO's impact is profound, touching the lives of children from 1st to 12th grade. The organization offers an array of programs designed to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. To name a few: 👩🏫 Tutoring and academic support 🗺 Field trips and engaging activities 👷♀️ Service and community engagement 🙋♂️ Empowering students to become mentors 🏕 Summer and Camp Experiences 🏠 Building Hope Beyond Education In an exciting development, HFO is expanding its mission with a Home Rehabilitation Project, aiming to rejuvenate the community's physical environment it holds dear. 🚀 As Reggie Dupre' (president of the board) is saying "Starting an organization is like launching to the moon, the hardest part is the first 8 feet. You’ve got to overcome gravity." Their journey reminds us that the most significant change starts with a single step, a leap of faith towards creating a lasting impact. Their story is not just one of success; it's a beacon of hope, proving that with love and dedication, we can indeed change the world, one child, one family, one community at a time. https://lnkd.in/ePdm6XkR #HopeForOpelousas #LoveChangesEverything #CommunityImpact #NonprofitExcellence #EducationEmpowers #BuildingHope #OpelousasStrong

Almost 50% of Australian principals and other school leaders are on the verge of quitting their jobs! Did you know that Australia’s school principals collectively shoulder the responsibility for nearly 3 million students and staff? But the question that arises is - who is looking out for them? Since 2011, an annual survey has been conducted involving 2,300 to 2,500 school leaders, making it the longest-running survey of its kind globally. The findings are startling! Our school principals are grappling with unsustainably high workloads, significant stress, and even violence and abuse from parents and students. Many are struggling wth their mental health, and about half are contemplating leaving the profession. It’s high time we turn the spotlight on these educational leaders and address their challenges. It's always so nice to see the true impact of your investments. Please take a moment to listen to the story below from Too Young to Wed.
"We have taught parents the importance of these projects, and they have agreed to send their girls, and go look after their animals themselves, letting the girls come together to share stories and relationships,” says Veronica, Ntonila's safe spaces mentor. Ntonila, 13, is one of seven children and lives with her family in Samburu County, #Kenya. Despite working as a full-time shepherd, she participates in TYTW's Butterfly Project, attending weekly safe spaces that provide a positive learning environment. Facilitated by local mentors, these sessions cover numeracy, literacy, health, sanitation, nutrition, money-management, and life skills. Veronica, Ntonila's mentor, highlights the positive impact on girls' education and relationships in the community. TYTW supports girls like Ntonila, who work as shepherds, through various programs including Safe Spaces, school enrollment, leadership scholarships, and the Shepherd School. These initiatives aim to prevent child marriage and empower girls in Ngilai and Namunyak, Samburu County, thanks to the generous support of Girls Opportunity Alliance/the Obama Foundation and Together Women Rise. #LetGirlsLearn #EndChildMarriage #EndFGM #Kenya

💌 Lessons I learned from my inspiring Omma (grandmother), who touched countless lives My incredible grandmother, who passed away last week at the age of 92, left behind a legacy far greater than most. She wasn't a CEO or a celebrity, but her impact on her community is undeniable. Let me tell you about the woman who: 1. Built a school from scratch: Witnessing the plight of refugees, she co-founded a primary school, nurturing young minds until it was adopted by the government. She retired as the principal of school. That school thrives to this day! 2. Fostered culture and resilience: She didn't stop there. Omma helped establish several cultural institutions, keeping the spirit of her community alive. 3. Empowered through collaboration: Recognizing the need for affordable essentials, she established a local cooperative store, empowering members through shared ownership and profits. Though it closed during difficult times, its impact lives on. 4. Shared her voice with the world: A gifted writer, her words graced magazines and newspapers, inspiring countless others. But beyond the impressive achievements, her most valuable lessons resonated deep within me: 1️⃣ Empathy fuels impact: She listened deeply, understanding the needs of her community before taking action. This core value led to interventions that truly made a difference. 2️⃣ Lifelong learning fuels greatness: Omma was an insatiable reader, constantly seeking knowledge and growth. This fueled her ability to adapt and innovate. 3️⃣ Community is the foundation: She never built alone. Collaboration and inclusivity were at the heart of everything she did, ensuring sustainability and shared success. Omma may be gone, but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched. Her story is a powerful reminder that anyone, with passion, empathy, and a commitment to learning and community, can leave a lasting impact. #legacy #impact #community #education #empathy #lifelonglearning #inspiration Sarthak Roy P.S. Share your stories of inspiring individuals in the comments! Let's celebrate the quiet heroes who make our world a better place.

Hey everyone, So, here we are, just passed the second-month mark in our sixteenth-year journey. It's Good Friday, a perfect time for some introspection. https://lnkd.in/e7CjnJGK Our team has been hustling, doing some real good out there, but trust me, we're just getting started. We're gearing up for what lies ahead, putting in the hours to make sure we're ready. You know, this pandemic really threw us for a loop, but it also gave us a chance to revisit an old gem: the Youth Empowerment Summit (YES) project. Some incredibly passionate folks put that together, and now it's morphed into something even more impactful: the Kids in the Middle (KITM) Coaching and Mentoring Program, aka "The Identify Journey" for kids. If you want to catch a glimpse of what we're up to, check out this link: https://lnkd.in/edU-S-rt Now, here's the thing: we're on the lookout for some NYC High School principals, whether active or retired, to hop on board with us. If you or someone you know fits the bill and is keen to dive into this journey hit us up by filling out this form and scheduling a chat. We're eager to connect with you and see where this road takes us.
