Have you ever wondered what the Nozomi Networks Labs team does at hackathons? Last year our Labs team was invited to two hackathons at the Cyber-Defence campus of armasuisse Wissenschaft und Technologie as a way to delve into the complexities of securing ICS and automotive cybersecurity. In this blog we take a look at the activities involved in the hackathons, including reverse engineering of firmware of devices used in SCADA industrial settings, analysis of wireless communications exposed by modern cars, and more. This morning, I had the opportunity to sit for the GRID exam, and I'm thrilled to share that I passed with a 90% score. The journey to this achievement was significantly enriched by the #ICS515 course, which was nothing short of amazing. I have to give a huge shout-out to Robert M. Lee for being an exceptional teacher throughout the course. His expertise and way of conveying complex concepts made the learning experience incredibly rewarding. Coming from a background where my exposure to the ICS/OT world was limited to what I learned in #ICS410 and discussions with Tim Conway and some of our insightful customers, my biggest challenge was overcoming my unfamiliarity with the practical aspects of ICS/OT. However, the course material, combined with Rob's teaching, made it possible for me to bridge this gap effectively. For my colleagues in IT as well as those in OT, I cannot recommend the ICS515 course enough. Understanding the nuances of industrial control systems and operational technology, especially in today's interconnected world, is invaluable. The insights gained from this course are not just academic; they are deeply practical and immediately applicable to our work. To anyone considering expanding their knowledge in this area, whether you're coming from an IT background or you're already working in OT, this course offers a comprehensive understanding that could significantly impact your perspective and your career. #ICSsecurity #OTsecurity #IndustrialControlSystems #ICS #OperationalTechnology #cybersecurity #safety #security #SANS #GIAC SANS Institute SANS Technology Institute SANS ICS

Ensuring secure access to operational technology (OT) environments is about more than just cybersecurity. An attacker who gains unauthorized access to a manufacturing production line or water treatment plant could cause far more damage than a data beach; the ability of the business to continue operating could be at risk, as could the physical safety of workers and the environment. New research from Ponemon Institute and @Cyolo explores how industrial organizations are managing OT systems access and risk in the face of growing threats and unprecedented challenges. Read the report now and reach out to me for a conversation about how Cyolo can help: https://lnkd.in/eA5T43wU

Pilots are a great opportunity to test out new ideas, innovations and equipment. But these principles work well for ANY new innovation, training or tech solution you adopt. I suggest starting at looking at perimeter security solutions, then access points and work your way in. You will include elements of education and training for all staff when you do a pilot or new tech adoption so you are essentially hitting your innermost layer as well. #linkedin #innovationinhealthcare #healthcaresecurity
