Many thanks to the #ERA team for inviting me to an exciting panel around competition in Europe and how it affects regional connectivity. The European Commission is currently undergoing a review on the future subsidies of regional airports. During our panel discussion it was highlighted: -) how important it was to keep regional airports operational to maintain and enhance regional connectivity in Europe. -) regional airports will play a vital role for the development of zero carbon aviation as the first aircraft to enable disruptive technology will offer capacity and range which will rely on regional airport infrastructure. As a conclusion, airport infrastructure, airport fee structures and airport funding policies amongst others do play a vital role in the competitive landscape of aviation in Europe. Many thanks to Vasiliki Christidi Group General Manager SKY Express, to @Richard Lake CEO Eastern Airways, Henrik Morch DG Competition, European Commission for an insightful panel. #sustainableaviation #Embraer #Energia

[Breaking news] Egis-operated and managed Ostend-Bruges Airport has been chosen as host partner of the World Cargo Summit in 2025 👏 Substantial investments in state-of-the-art infrastructure, a digitalised handling process and 24/7 operations all made the case for the Belgian airport to be the next destination for the event, after Abu Dhabi and Bangkok. A rising challenger in European air cargo activity, Ostend Airport is now considered a substantial hub in the freight landscape. Remarkable efficiency, flexibility and speed of operations have supported its boom in cargo operations with a 150% increase in recent years. 📈 There’s no doubt that the airport will be a fantastic venue for the event organised by Euroavia International. All our colleagues at Ostend are very much looking forward to giving a warm welcome to the organisers and future delegates! Put the date in your calendars! 📆 Ostend-Bruges Airport is one of 20 airports globally that are operated or supported by Egis. Norway’s CDO and CCO outperformed all of Europe in May. Eurocontrol monitors environmentally friendly “Continous Descent/Climb Operations” that reduce fuel consumption and noise pollution by allowing arriving and departing aircrafts to follow their optimal flight path. Seven out of ten arrivals, and nine of ten departures, followed an optimal flight path at Norway’s airports in May. This constitutes 69 per cent of arrivals and 92 per cent of departures. By comparison, the European average in May was 32 and 76 per cent, respectively. Norwegian and Widerøe deserve applause for their stellar performance and significant contribution to Norway’s ranking. The two airlines’ CDO and CCO performance in May was an impressive 80 and 95 per cent, respectively. 📷 Photo: Jørgen Syversen MeetInNorway - Visit Norway VisitOSLO

Did you know that #Helsinki was the fastest transit airport for connecting traffic from Europe to Asia (until the current geo-political issues prevented flying over Russian airspace), and Finnair had developed a niche hub offering 45-minute connections at key times of the day for their passengers? Charlotte in North Carolina, while in itself a major market, has become a specialist hub for American Airlines to connect traffic from Europe to the Southeast US States, providing quick connections for all. Panama City has become widely regarded as a hub between North, South, and Central America, with COPA enjoying some very high yield as they connect secondary destinations in each market, offering connectivity that others cannot match? John Grant's latest OAG update, The World of Connected Airports: Megahubgs, Hubs and Niche Airports has a wealth of facts and data about the world of #airports! Read it here: https://lnkd.in/eKykBVdW

Airports across Europe are facing strategic challenges to merge a growing demand for air travel and transport with the immanent need to reduce the environmental impact that is linked to this service. With the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the related #EUGreenDeal in place, the distinctive features of successful airport operations, traditionally focusing on throughput, safety and customer convenience, were now irretrievably extended by an environmental dimension. Voices from the industry proclaim that “CO² neutrality by 2030” has the status of a license to grow if not to operate in the nearest future (#ACI 2019). At the same time the transition towards green airport operations is not a straight forward journey. Although a bundle of innovative concepts and technologies to significantly reduce the environmental impact of airport operations is currently being developed, airports are still in need to combine them in a localized strategy after all. The TULIPS – Green Airports project purposely seeks to develop Road Maps which enable airports of different size and location to achieve carbon-neutrality by 2030 in scope 1 and 2 emission. One of the partner airports involved in the project is Hermes Airports Ltd (LCA) in Cyprus. Please take the opportunity to listen to the airport's CEO Eleni Kaloyirou on “The quest for airports to reach net-zero emissions by 2030” and their local strategy envisaged to achieve this goal. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eBZM3bYu #tulips #greenairports #EUGreenDeal #h2020 #sustainableaviation #innovation #ultrafine #waterscreen #environment

If you were to visit a different airport every day, it would take you over 60 years to see all the airports in the world. Globally, there are over 40, 000 airports with thousands more in construction. If you were to visit any airport, which one would it be and why? Mine would be Tokyo Haneda Airport. Reason being the airport's setting of it's three (3) terminals and the airport's layout especially it's aerial view. Comment yours below 👇 Here is a list of the top 10 countries with the most number of airports. #airports #airportfacilities #aviation #aviationindustry #aviationworld #aviationdaily #aviationeducation #civilaviation
