Women’s Equality Day is a significant day in history for women’s rights. Today, we recognize the incredible progress that’s been made on the path to gender equality and promise to continue working toward a more equitable future. To celebrate this meaningful day and invest in our community, our Womxns Allyship employee resource group volunteered their time at Mary’s Place, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping women and families experiencing homelessness. Volunteers got to serve lunch and lead family-friendly activities for residents. #weareseattlecreditunion

Conversations on International Women’s Day can often focus exclusively on women’s leadership in the workplace and public life – but we know that #GenderEquality needs to exist at home too. The home should be a place of love and support. But too often it’s a place where women have unjust expectations put on them. One where they are disrespected, silenced... even abused. A gift of $55 today can provide training for women living in poverty to start a small business or support workshops that are teaching their husbands and partners about gender equality to forge fairer relationships in the home. This #IWD, bring change and justice to the home – so that families, united, can bring change and justice to their communities: https://loom.ly/OoMIc_4 Photo by Harjono Djoyobisono

I'm excited about the way we're thinking about what it means to integrate care considerations into our economic development work at The Cadmus Group. While there's no silver bullet and no "right" answer that applies to all contexts, we are starting by asking good (tough) questions. For example, we're thinking about how caregiving responsibilities affect entrepreneurial potential - and how do we develop "care sensitive" policies and programs to achieve more equitable outcomes in our projects? These aren't just "nice to have" questions - they get to the heart of what inclusive economic growth looks like and how to start building economic systems that will work for everyone. #careeconomy #genderequality
Care work, like childcare and support for the elderly, is crucial for #economicgrowth. But it’s often undervalued, especially since it’s seen as “women’s work”. This disparity holds back gender equality and women’s progress. At Cadmus, as leaders in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, we recognize this issue and offer expertise to help clients better integrate care work into strategies, fostering a more equitable and inclusive society. It's crucial to address the #underfunding of feminist movements and women's rights organizations. While progress is being made with the adoption of feminist foreign policies, there's still much work to be done to ensure adequate support for these vital initiatives. This #internationalwomensday, let's reflect on the importance of amplifying the voices of women and supporting their rights globally. By raising awareness and advocating for increased funding and resources for feminist movements and women's rights organizations, we can work towards a more equitable and just world for all. #InternationalWomensDay #GenderEquality #WomenRights #SegalFamilyFoundation
Tomorrow is #InternationalWomensDay Did you know that 99% of philanthropy and government aid does NOT reach feminist movements and women's rights organizations? The growing number of countries adopting a feminist foreign policy reveals increasing recognition of the importance of gender equality and women’s rights. Yet evidence shows that feminist movements and women’s rights organizations remain dramatically underfunded. Learn more about how to do better in this folder on Feminist Philanthropy in our Equitable Giving Toolkit https://lnkd.in/eK-jqQGQ Graphic from Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID)

As we commemorate Workers' Month, Hlanganisa remains committed to advocating for gender equality in the workplace. We're promoting policy changes, supporting women-led initiatives, and building partnerships to amplify our collective impact. We push for greater transparency in wage practices and provide training programs to empower women economically. Through our collaboration with grassroots organizations, we're reminded of the importance of investing in marginalized communities. Empowering women entrepreneurs, providing skills training, and advocating for their inclusion in decision-making, are just some of the ways we're closing the gap. #EquityUnleashedSA #WorkersMonth #SocialJustice #WorkersRights #WorkersEmpowerment #IAdvocateForWorkers

#InternationalWomensDay is traditionally a time to celebrate the achievements and resilience of women around the world. However, it’s crucial to recognise and address the unique challenges faced by women with disabilities, who constitute one-fifth of the global female population. As we reflect on the progress made towards gender equality, it’s imperative to shed light on the disparities that persist for women with disabilities. Read more in today's article: https://zurl.co/LFmt #IWD2024 #DisabilityIntersectionality #Feminism #Equality #DisabledWomen #WomensRights Image description: A diverse group of women gather together outside and smile to the camera.
