21 May was World Diversity Day. What does that mean? At Beckers we try to use every day as an opportunity to champion a diverse, motivated and engaged community. For example, our colleagues at Beckers Sweden recently hosted an inspiring evening highlighting opportunities for women working in Production. The event included presentations by the Managing Director at our Märsta facility Åsa Hörnqvist and the site’s Production Manager Åsa Mattson. They talked about the commitment at Beckers to gender equality, but equally importantly the evening offered attendees a clear path to a rewarding career that a lot of women had never previously considered. Globally, creating a more gender balanced organization is a key part of our 2030 Sustainability strategy. By challenging the outdated cliche of the male-dominated production environment, we can continue to engage top female talent as we work towards raising the standard of care for our world. Yet people are still put off from applying because of negative perceptions of what it’s like to work in an industrial environment. This is something we are actively seeking to change by running hands-on events such this, where women can explore the many opportunities and hear directly from female colleagues based here at Märsta. Other local initiatives have taken place this year in Italy, Vietnam and Mexico. What we are seeing worldwide is that technological progress, combined with shifting attitudes towards gender roles, are impacting both the nature of the work and the skills needed. #beckersgroup #WorldDiversityDay #peoplewithimpact #coatingsindustry #towards2030

Celebrating #InternationalWomensDay2024 at Nordic Solar 💁♀️   Today we're celebrating being a workplace where equality and diversity thrive. At Nordic Solar, we have achieved a 50/50 gender balance, breaking norms in the energy industry. We take pride in being a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. Today, on International Women's Day, we join voices around the world to celebrate the progress and the ongoing journey towards gender equality in the workplace, particularly within traditionally male-dominated sectors like ours. Norway, known for its pioneering efforts in gender equality, continues to set an inspiring example. A noteworthy highlight from our own backyard is Norsk Hydro's ambitious commitment under the leadership of CEO Hilde Merete Aasheim. Aiming to elevate female colleagues to higher ranks and leadership positions, Hydro is not just talking the talk but walking the walk towards changing the narrative. By 2025, the goal is to achieve a workforce with at least 25% women, including in leadership roles, in an industry where balancing the scales is not a challenge for the faint-hearted. But our ambition doesn't stop at national borders. Our partners across the global metal industry are celebrating today in unison, showcasing their commitment to gender balance. Events like the Women With Metal – ALUMINIUM Awards" are just the tip of the iceberg, revealing a worldwide commitment to acknowledging and rewarding the contributions of women in our field. Leading change: Gender Equality as a proeminent topic at Berlin Energy transition Dialogue The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD), a pivotal conference in the renewable energy sector, convened ministers, delegations from over 75 countries, and stakeholders to discuss tangible solutions for the global energy transition. This year's BETD, held from March 18 to 22, 2024, prominently featured gender equality, reflecting its growing significance. Various panels and networking events highlighted female leaders, policy examples strengthening women's roles, and the impact of women's networks. Women Energize Women, part of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz's Bilateral Climate and Energy Partnerships and Dialogues, leveraged the conference to expand its networks and promote gender inclusivity in the energy sector. The article also outlines specific events at the BETD, including panel discussions and networking events like the Women's Lunch, which facilitated connections among 300 women. The Cooperation Dialogues featured discussions on women's roles in green jobs and technical innovation, underscoring the importance of education, mentorship, and inclusivity in achieving gender parity in the energy sector.
