challenge coins and misguided marketing A follow up to yesterday’s quickly typed and widely misunderstood rant. Below are six challenge coins. Some are round, some are not. I would argue that five of the six, very evidently, placed the servicemember/veteran at the forefront of the design process. One of these “challenge coins” prioritized the firms logo (not seen, on the back). How do I know this? Because they smashed the branches of the military onto the other side, with haphazard and unequal spacing. Because the branches weren’t the priority, the logo was. It’s not about the shape, it’s about the messaging. And the messaging from the challenge coin shaped like a chevy symbol is that the firm doesn’t particularly care about veterans or military. They’d rather half ass their marketing to boost profits, rather than put forth the required effort to truly understand the veteran community. So, to the corporations seeking to profit on #veterans and #military, do me a favor and hire a consultant who actually served in the military. I’m available. In the interim, use common sense. Active duty military no longer wear BDUs. You’re welcome for that tip that’s available on Google. I hope this clears up yesterday’s poorly delivered message. 😂 _____ #marketing #advertising #semperfi #veteranfriendly
