Product Analytics Advisor | Mixpanel Certified Partner | Transforming Startups into Data-Driven Success Stories 🚀
The ability to understand correlations & relationships between multiple factors is the most important skill to look for when hiring an analytics person. In your next round of hiring for an analyst, - Give them a problem statement - Ask them to build an exhaustive flow chart listing the hypothesis/ reasons behind the problem - Let them talk you through how each hypothesis/ reason is related to the problem statement This alone can help you easily differentiate great analysts from bad ones - because product analytics is less about data, building reports, knowing tools, etc., and more about making sense of data & drawing correlations. #anshdoesanalytics #analytics #hiring

Don't make the mistake of hiring an entry level analyst as your first analytics hire. Here's why: 1. The field is diluted There are 1000 ways people can become a "data analyst". There are a lot of BS certificates and courses that convince people that becoming a data analyst is easy. Everyone is now a data analyst. 2. Stakeholder management A first analytics hire will likely be shared across multiple teams. Product, Marketing, and other functions will be thirsty for analytics help. That puts all the pressure on this new analyst to manage all of that. Most analysts will drown under that pressure. 3. Having to prioritize A first analytics hire will have to ruthlessly prioritize. They'll have to focus on working only on the most impactful priorities. Given how limited the analytics resource will be, each hour they spend on a project will need to be hyper efficient. 4. Delivering analyses The analytics hire will need to communicate and convince high impact analyses. This means that they have to be really strong at communication. Most entry level analysts aren't. So, what's the solution? Hire a Sr Analyst with around 5-7 years of experience. Try to find someone that's worked at a high growth company that has seen constantly changing priorities and knows how to navigate many stakeholders. Yes, they'll cost more but it'll be worth it. 3-5 years of experience is also fine if they have strong communication skills.

Here's how to find jobs posted in your LinkedIn feed.
I help high-achieving, humble leaders confidently land their next role w/o settling for less | Executive Resume Writer | 4X Certified Personal Brand & Job Search Strategist | LinkedIn Top Voice | Free Job Search Tools ⤵️
Last week a job seeker asked me if there was a way to find jobs shared in posts. The easiest way to do this is to head to your search bar and try one of the follow searches: #hiring #hiringnow #hiring + industry #hiringnow + industry #hiring + position title #hiringnow + position title These searches will generate results within your network and you can filter by people or posts. I recommend posts since you're looking for jobs people post about. For even more precision in your search results, put quotation marks around your search terms so "#hiringnow + data analyst" would be the search phrase. You can also search without using the hashtag and try "hiring + data analyst" to see results. I'm giving you a few different options because people post things in different ways and you never know which one will populate the result you're looking for. I hope this helps, and happy searching! What hiring managers in top product companies look for in a entry level Business Analyst role: 1. Strong SQL skills #SQL is the bread and butter 2. Logical approach towards problem solving How do you break a problem into smaller chunks and come to a solution! 3. Curiosity and an ability to learn new things Be constantly curios! 4 Positive Attitude to deal with ambiguity In the data world, you'll be dealing with ambiguity, what is expected out of you is find a way out! Now comes the interesting part, in order to get a call from these companies you need to have a strong resume, showcase a variety of projects that showcases your strength in : 1. Dashboarding/Story Telling --> Showcases your visualization and story telling skills 2. Pricing Framework / Cohort Analysis / Marketing Analytics (Dealing with Dormancy/Identifying Optimal Chanel for running marketing campaigns) etc. 3. Basic ML project dealing with Regression/Classification problem (this part can be optional) Don't complicate !
