Tour de France 2024: The 111th edition of the Tour de France begins tomorrow, Saturday, June 29, 2024, in Florence, marking a historic first for the Grande Boucle. Celebrating Achievement: As a dedicated supporter of cycling and having been by Linus Gerdemann's side through pivotal moments in his career, I've witnessed his remarkable achievements firsthand. Imagining Linus in the yellow jersey, leading the tour, and securing victory in a mountain stage symbolizes the pinnacle of his career. This passion for cycling runs in my family; my father participated in the 1979 Tour de France, but he couldn't finish due to a broken collarbone. Innovation in Mobility: Inspired by the excitement of cycling and the pursuit of innovation, I've designed a revolutionary vehicle for short and mid-sized distances. Featuring versatile cargo options and the ability for cyclists to ride side by side within the vehicle, it embodies the future of transportation. Adjustable steering, handlebars, seat posts, and saddles ensure optimal comfort and performance. Safety and Visibility: Safety is paramount for cyclists. Our vehicle, equipped with four wheels like a car, offers superior stability, protection, and visibility on the road. Complete with bumpers, seatbelts, powerful lights, a roof, and a windshield, it ensures a secure and comfortable ride, promoting confidence in every journey. Driving Sustainability: Combining cutting-edge technology with eco-friendly materials, our design sets a new standard for sustainable mobility. It represents a future where transportation is not only efficient and stylish but also enhances health and well-being. Join the Movement: What are your thoughts on this innovative vision of future mobility for short and mid-sized distances? Share your ideas and let's shape the future together. #FutureMobility #AutomotiveDesign #Sustainability #Health #Cycling #ActiveTravel #GrandTour #Florence #Nice #OXYDRIVE #eQuadricycle #Startup #Berlin

Speed (and size) differentials in two-wheeled vehicles are increasingly perceived as a challenge, even in places with robust and well-developed infrastructure like City of Amsterdam. I'm a true believer in the #ebike revolution, but there's a set of infrastructure, policy, and social changes that are needed to make or keep cycling an all ages and abilities activity. Some of these changes could be technological (Amsterdam in particular is doing interesting work about the application of speed governing), but the discussion should probably start with making sure that the allocation of our right-of-way matches our objectives.
Amsterdam cylists rank bike ride with 7.3 out of 10, but worry about road safety - AMSTERDAM Bike City

I help businesses revive their redundant IT assets, protect their data, save the environment, stimulate a circular economy, improve digital equality and boost their ESG Score
More people now cycle than drive in central Paris! On World Bicycle Day we should all strive to be more like the people on Paris. Parisians now take 11% of their city-centre trips by bike with only 4% of their journeys happening in the car. This is up from just 3% of trips by bike in 2010. The city's 'Plan Velo' has invested 70 million euros into new cycle paths and 6 million euros into bicycle parking, creating 1100kms of cycle paths by 2021. The 'Plan Velo: Act 2' runs up to 2026 and is aiming to make Paris a '100% cycling city'. Part of the plan is to remove 70% of city-centre car-parking spaces and replacing them with 130,000 bike spots and adding an extra 180km of additional cycling paths. By 2025 the city will have banned the most polluting petrol and diesel vehicles from the centre. Walking still the favoured mode of travel, followed by public transport. So I say Chapeau to the City of Paris for investing in the health and wellbeing of it's residents and visitors and doing their bit to reduce the impact of humanity of our planet. What journey will you swap the car for the bike today? #Sustainability #WorldBicycleDay #GreenCity

We are often asked, if bike sharing can also work beyond large cities and metropolitan regions. The answer is a definite yes! Bike sharing also brings many advantages to the transportation network of smaller cities, as well as suburban and rural areas! Here are a few examples: ➡ nextbike Niederösterreich, our bike share offer for Lower Austria - powered by Radland Niederösterreich - not only provides a large-scale sustainable mobility option for roughly 60 municipalities across the region, it also surpasses its personal best on a regular basis. Already this year, rentals for the first two months almost tripled! ➡ E-bikes turn hilly terrains and longer distances into a breeze. By providing e-bikes for rural areas and more challenging terrains, we turn cycling not only into an elemental means of transport, we also make it accessible to a broader audience. Here are a few examples: BBK Klimabizi a small bike share scheme for the Urdaibai Region in Spain, EinfachMobil a supra-regional multi-modal scheme for the Ortenau region and many more. ➡ Last but not least we would like to share a very special initiative: Thanks to a special commuters’ tariff, users of the schemes Bergisches E-Bikes, RVK E-Bike, Eifel E-Bike and RSVG_Bike e-bikes, only pay a discounted price when they rent one of our bikes during the night. Thus, they can easily use a nextbike when they cycle home after work and rely on the same bike to get back to work the next day. What other initiatives do you know of that make bike sharing in rural areas more attractive? #BikeSharing #SustainableMobility #BikeSharevolution #PublicTransport

France invest 2 billion euro i order to double bicycle network to 100 000 km 2030. Sweden increased the network with 1 cm per capita 2023. Paris is proving that bicycles can be a viable mode of transport in a major city. Cars account for just 4.3% of all trips within city limits, while bikes make up a solid 11.2%. Even on trips between the city and inner suburbs, bicycles (14%) outnumber cars (11.8%). During the morning rush hour, the gap widens to 18.9% of trips made by bike versus just 6.6% by car. This shift is due to a cultural change spurred on by Covid-19, as well as active promotion of cycling by the Paris city authorities. Source: https://lnkd.in/dGVPTfBz

Today is #WorldBicycleDay2024 a day we celebrate more than a mode of transport, a symbol of freedom, health, hope, and resilience! Cycling and active mobility have a key role in UPPER's further development of public transport within our cities®ions. Lucky for us, our Horizontal partner European Cyclists' Federation is focused on 10 measures in 6 different UPPER Project EU cities. These consist of creating multimodal hubs where active modes and public transport meet, developing incentive packages to support multimodality, enabling public transport in peri-urban areas, campaigning for sustainable modes of transport (including public transport and active modes) and, finally, enhancing multimodal interconnections and integration. New Research Alert! In line with the European Declaration on Cycling, adopted last October by the European Commission, Rome is making significant strides towards a greener future by prioritizing #cycling as a key mode of transportation. The city recently unveiled the Grande Raccordo Anulare delle Bici (#GRAB), a 48.3 km cycle route designed to enhance connections with the #PublicTransportation system, foster 10-minute neighborhoods, and champion sustainable #SlowTourism. The GRAB is divided into six implementation sections, each playing a crucial role in reshaping Rome's urban landscape. Our latest research, "The Grande Raccordo Anulare delle Bici (GRAB): Prioritizing Implementation Through a Multicriteria Analysis," delves deep into the project's intricacies. Our goal? To provide a comprehensive understanding of the optimal order for implementing these sections. Our investigation utilizes a multicriteria analysis, evaluating each section based on four criteria: cycle demand, cycle network connectivity, #urban #accessibility, and cycle #safety. By unraveling these insights, we aim to contribute valuable data that will shape the future of sustainable mobility in Rome.
