🌍 Embracing open science for global collaboration 🌐 Open science is more than just a trend — it's a transformative approach that fosters collaboration and inclusivity on a global scale. We can bridge the gap between research teams and diverse communities worldwide by opening research processes and products to all. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy's Year of Open Science Recognition Challenge highlights the narratives and teams involved in initiatives that have tackled challenges or propelled solutions while embodying the principles and practices of open science. The #NSFfunded Exchange for Local Observations and Knowledge of the Arctic (ELOKA) project was recently announced as a winner in this challenge. ELOKA was established to directly engage with Indigenous partners across the Arctic, facilitating the ethical sharing and utilization of this vital data. Through a commitment to open science and relationship-building, ELOKA has advanced the understanding of Arctic sciences and empowered Arctic Indigenous peoples to assert their self-determination. https://bit.ly/3TWvitM #OpenScience #ArcticResearch

💡 Reminder to Submit your ICARP IV Summit Sessions before 14 June 2024 📣 #ASSW2025 organizers are now accepting session proposals for the ICARP IV Summit. Within the overall theme of “Arctic Research Planning for the Next Decade”, sessions are invited to address the following areas: 🔺 Research topics that align with one or more of the seven existing ICARP IV Research Priority Team Areas. 🔺 Research topics that are critical for Arctic research planning to consider, but are broader than or not included within any of the seven existing ICARP IV Research Priority Team Areas. For example, topics here may include emerging Arctic threats, new areas in social science, Arctic economies, etc. 🔺 Matters that are important to Arctic research planning and implementation. For example, topics here may include science policy, research evaluation, research ethics, scenario planning, international funding and coordination mechanisms, etc. ✍ ICARP IV Summit Session application guidelines -> Each session should be convened by a minimum of two and a maximum of three conveners. Inspiring Change 2.0 - Creating Impact with evidence-based implementation by using implementation science to move ideas and innovation into action (Intro to Implementation Science)

📢 Now online, the conclusions of our Reciprocity Day at the Science Summit 2024 during the 79th #UNGA. Joining forces with Norges forskningsråd to bring together experts from around the globe, we explored the critical importance of freedom to carry out research, equitable access to scientific information and research infrastructures, while considering science as a public good. The dialogue emphasised that co-creation of a human-centred, peaceful future is essential to meeting global challenges and achieving the #SustainableDevelopmentGoals. This requires rethinking the way we collaborate internationally, ensuring academic freedom, equity, and inclusion. What are the key takeaways from the discussion? 🔑 Place people and their diverse backgrounds at the heart of equitable partnerships, built on trust, dignity, and respect. 🔑 Embrace open science to ensure equitable access to scientific knowledge and information, and equitable access to research infrastructures, crucial for meaningful collaboration 🔑Prioritise scientific collaboration across borders as part of a country's strategic development. 🔑 Train researchers in enhanced inclusive collaboration methods, promoting South-South and North-South collaborations. 🔑 Facilitate the logistical aspects of global collaboration such as easing visa processes. 🔑Acknowledge the value of indigenous and local knowledge systems.
