Key takeaways & discussion points include: 🗨 Often women's health conditions outside of family building are hardly spoke about, for example menopause which every woman who makes it to later age will go through. 🗨 There is a lot of false advertising and messaging in the women's health space, and we need to work to prevent this and give messages about women's health that are clinically validated. 🗨 Fundraising reminds a key challenge in this space, especially robust funding for established start ups. From an investor perspective there is a lot of room for women's digital health technologies and so this could easily change. #womenshealth #womensdigitalhealth #wdh2024

I recently had the chance to attend a Digital Health event organized by Digital Health Institute for Transformation (DHIT) dedicated to Empowering Women in Health & Innovation. It was a delight to listen to Kimberly Hames as she shared invaluable insights on community engagement and highlighted the value that women bring towards enhancing health and technology. Here are some key takeaways that I would like to share: 🎓 Educating women around health literacy is essential in order to provide better health outcomes. 🏥 Understanding the components of quality care empowers women to advocate more effectively for their own health needs. 👩🏻⚕ Addressing unconscious biases by care providers is important to ensure all voices are heard, regardless of an individual's race or ethnicity. A quote from the speaker that deeply resonated with me and that I intend to carry forward in my journey within the healthcare industry is, "Every leader within the health ecosystem holds power to play a pivotal role in shaping the healthcare system" ❗️Finally, women's health shouldn't be a topic to be discussed in the #WomensHistoryMonth alone; instead, it is crucial to take proactive steps towards fostering inclusivity and equity within the healthcare system without further delay. #WomenInHeath #DigitalTransformation #FutureOfHealthcare

Women need safe spaces in health. But are the surveys and questions being used to promote this week truly reflective of their experiences? I asked a few patient groups who categorically said “no” and then offered alternative responses to how they feel about going to the doctor; “Apprehensive about being minimised” “Worried I’ll spend money to get no answers” “Terrified I won’t be listened to” The patient experience in 2024 of going to the doctor isn’t best described in a “personality test”. It’s not how we turn up that determines the outcome - but how we are received that creates trust. It's time to prioritise authentic voices in healthcare research. Terrible questions lead to false narratives. Let's focus on real issues and create meaningful content for Women's Health Week. Please, we beg of you to be our champions here.
