While in London, England this week, our Master of Accounting (MAcc) students had the opportunity to meet with Digital Gravity Infrastructure Partners (DGIP), a private equity firm started in 2023 that specializes in Digital Infrastructure. With the number of internet users expected to grow by 1 billion over the next 5 years, bandwidth will double every 2 years. DGIP has a mission to invest in a more sustainable and inclusive digital future. Our students met with Marco Vetrone and Andre Karihaloo to learn more. Here are three key takeaways from their meeting: 1. Increased demand and usage of Generative AI brings advanced computing needs and a large demand for more advanced digital infrastructure (ie. data centres). 2. Investing in digital infrastructure can be done in a sustainable manner through the use of renewable energy and by being energy efficient. 3. Data security and sovereignty will be a major consideration for businesses, governments and individuals as our data is stored all around the world which brings both benefits and risks. Thank you for sharing your expertise with our MAcc International Study Course group, DGIP!
