There are few better symbols for the #bipartisaninfrastructurelaw than the Brent Spence Bridge. This bridge, which carries 3% of the nation’s GDP annually, was built in 1963 and designed to carry 80,000 vehicles a day. Today it carries 160,000 vehicles a day and is in urgent need of expansion and repair. Thanks to the Bipartisan #Infrastructure Law, the dream of decades is becoming a reality. While we often say there are no Republican bridges or Democratic roads, it was an honor to speak with Democratic Governor of Kentucky Andy Beshear and Republican Governor of Ohio Mike DeWine about the importance of this bridge for their states and the nation. Different political parties. One vision for economic growth and investment. Bipartisan infrastructure.

FHWA Administrator Shailen Bhatt joined Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine at an event in Covington, Kentucky, on July 28 to announce the design build contract award for the Brent Spence Bridge – a major milestone in delivering the project on time and on budget. The 60-year-old bridge is one of the busiest freight routes in the nation and is in a critical need of an update. “President Biden’s Investing In America agenda is moving critically needed projects forward in Kentucky, Ohio, and all across the country that will make travel safer, move goods to market more quickly, and improve the daily lives of countless Americans,” said Administrator Bhatt.    FHWA is proud to partner with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Ohio Department of Transportation to make that happen with the help of the #BipartisanInfrastructureLaw funding. #InvestingInAmerica
