According to the NCSEA SE3 Career Advancement topic brief, “White respondents were more likely than all other racial groups to report satisfaction [with career advancement].” These trends are common throughout data reported in NCSEA and SEAONC SE3 publications within our profession. SEAONC SE3 is hosting a panel to inspire conversations about fostering inclusivity and ensuring equitable access to opportunities within our profession – especially for underrepresented racial and ethnic groups. Panelists will discuss their personal experiences within the industry and practical strategies for advocating on behalf of themselves, colleagues, or employees. All structural engineering professionals and students are encouraged to attend, especially those who are part of the BIPOC community. Come to the event ready to listen or actively participate by asking the panelists questions. Afterward, students and young professionals are invited to participate in a round of speed mentoring or join other attendees in networking to continue the discussion. I had a blast interviewing Wendy J Rosploch, NACD.DC for this article. We are in a brave new world ripe with tech and STEM opportunities. This exhibit will be a great starting point to show the upcoming generations this area is booming and will continue to boom for tech and everything associated with it. #stemeducation #techcommunity #techcareers #stemcareers

I was honored and humbled when my newest friend David Zey, introduced the Careers to Explore and Experience exhibit to Heather Graves and Megan Dickman-Renard. This introduction turned into an interview with Chris Rugowski and a beautiful story about the upcoming exhibit. Thank you to The Business News Wi for helping us spread the word to parents, businesses, and schools in Northeast Wisconsin. The over 40 volunteers look forward to connecting and engaging students in Science, Technology, and Engineering careers! https://lnkd.in/gUiCCv6Y

Here we go! Stephanie Hirschberger and I are on our way to Amsterdam for the AOM Careers Division Community Conference. We both present our study findings in the same symposium organized by our PHD supervisor Simone Kauffeld with the title "Antecedents and Consequences of Early Career Decisions" on Friday at 13:00-14:30 in room IN-0B60 My presentation has the title "Investigating the Role of Calling and Career Decidedness on Students' Intention to Drop Out After the First Year of Higher Education: A Longitudinal Multigroup Comparison". Co-authors: Stephanie Hirschberger, Simone Kauffeld Stephanie Hirschberger presents her talk on "Enhancing Early Career Success: An Empirical Investigation of Peer Group Coaching for Undergraduate Students". Co-authors: Britta Wittner, Simone Kauffeld The symposium also presents two more interesting talks from the lovely Anna Moser on "A Mentoring Program to Facilitate Onboarding to the Academic World – Community Building and More" and my previous collaborator and brillant mind Britta Wittner on "Reaching for Something in the Distance – How Students Envision Their Future Career". While you are attending the conference you should also search for the talks from our fellow Technische Universität Braunschweig PHD students Laura Mehner and Annabell Mitschelen. So much for the advertisment for our talks 😉 If you wanna meet for a coffee or a quick chat, drop me a message.
