As an intern in the Digital Marketing Track for The Global Career Accelerator, I've had the incredible opportunity to dive deep into real-world business challenges. Starbucks faced several critical challenges in this market, including pricing vs. Quality, Market Size, Fierce Competition, and, most importantly, adaptability. Have you ever taken the time to reflect on your dreams and who you want to be? 🤗 Even if I do eventually find that answer, I'm uncertain if it will be the "right" one for my life. However, there was one unforgettable turning point in my journey so far. When I was in middle school, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Guangzhou, China. Encountering people of diverse nationalities and cultures has enriched my global mindset. It led me to aspire to become more than just Korean-centric, aiming to be a worldly professional. This experience has served as a compass in my life. To be a worldly professional, I participated in the Glocal Trade Experts incubating Progam(GTEP). I think this program will be the last stepping stone before I enter society. I ended up working as an automotive parts overseas manager, which I consider a great opportunity to explore my interests. What I have learned over the past six months is the importance of being “proactive” and “self-reliant” in my work. I believe that beyond basic responsibility and diligence, which I consider essential, being proactive—finding and pursuing tasks passionately without waiting to be told—is crucial for personal growth. Valuable experiences that I could never learn from sitting at my office desk. After completing one month of Entry Tasks to get familar with SPX Order flow, I transitioned to on-site training at a physical store. Some may think it's not worth sharing for being an in-store employee, but I believe this opportunity allows me to better connect with buyers and sellers, understand the operations of store staff, and identify systems in the SP Portal that I can optimize. During my training, I saw the store employee patiently assist the a hearing-impaired elderly gentleman with his refund application by typing, even though she had a lot of stock to process. This experience gave me firsthand insight into the hard work of store employees and strengthened my resolve to make changes and optimize the system to ease their workload. Additionally, when faced with unexpected situations like a WiFi outage causing a long queue for pickups, I was able to quickly adapt and use own network to ensure operations continued smoothly until the system was back online. Through careful observation during my on-site training, I realized that the outbound process of store personnel could impact the monitoring of storage status. This insight will help me when I return to headquarters to assist with PM projects and propose optimization strategies to the biz department. The on-site training not only showed me what Shopee does well but also revealed areas for improvement in the SPX operations.
