Yay! It's Work in the Wild Wednesday! A special day (according to me) when I get to celebrate brands I've had the opportunity to work with over the years do their thing. This is a nonprofit direct mail piece from Houses of Hope that encourages readers to support them through Give to Lincoln Day. My favorite things about this direct mail piece that work are: 1) The first-class stamp got to me faster than using a nonprofit bulk stamp. 2) My first name and Tammy Stevenson's signature are handwritten. 3) There's a reply envelope inside :) 4) The short paragraphs and strategic bolding made it an easy read. 5) Words that speak directly to the reader like "you" and "your" are used. Houses of Hope provides expertise and guidance to help people find their own way to successfully manage their substance use and mental health during recovery. Few factors are more critical to a child’s well-being than the consistent presence of caring adults in their lives and a physically and emotionally safe environment. We recently distributed $145,000 in grants to nonprofits who are walking alongside local families with supportive services. Expanding our reach and impact: At Isabel’s House we're dedicated to achieving our mission of preventing child abuse and neglect in the Ozarks. To reach even more people and families and make an even greater impact, we're excited to introduce the rebuilding and enhancement of two new initiatives: 1. Associate Board: Our Associate Board will be comprised of young professionals passionate about our cause. They will serve as ambassadors for our organization, provide fresh perspectives and ideas, and play a vital role in fundraising and volunteer recruitment. 2. Volunteer Program: Our new Volunteer Program is the backbone of our organization! The Volunteer Program provides opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to get involved. We have a variety of volunteer positions available, from direct service to administrative support, and we're confident that there's a perfect fit for everyone. Why get involved? Community Heroes The Neighborhood Guardian: In a quiet suburban neighborhood, a group of elderly residents formed a watch group to look out for each other. They regularly check on neighbors, share meals, and offer assistance with daily tasks. Their unwavering support creates a strong sense of community and provides a safety net for those in need. The Teacher Who Inspires: A dedicated teacher goes above and beyond to support her students. She provides tutoring, mentors struggling students, and creates a nurturing classroom environment. Her impact extends far beyond academics, as she helps students develop confidence, resilience, and a belief in their own potential. Overcoming Adversity with Kindness From Homeless to Helping Others: A man who experienced homelessness firsthand now dedicates his life to helping others in similar situations. He provides meals, clothing, and essential supplies, but more importantly, he offers hope and companionship to those struggling to rebuild their lives. The Power of Forgiveness: After enduring years of abuse, a woman found the strength to forgive her abuser. Her journey towards healing inspired others who had experienced similar trauma, demonstrating the transformative power of forgiveness and compassion. These are just a few examples of the countless acts of kindness that occur every day. These stories remind us that even small gestures can have a profound impact on the lives of others. By embracing kindness in our own lives, we contribute to a more compassionate and harmonious world. Let these inspiring stories ignite a spark within you to spread kindness wherever you go. Remember, a simple smile, a helping hand, or a kind word can make a world of difference. IT IS MY #BUSINESS! I want to tell everyone here that it is my business how you raise your #children. And it should also be your business how I raise mine, if you are a #parent indeed. 🔴 It is my business because, your ill-parented children will corrupt other children, including mine. 🔴 It is my business because, you may raise more hoodlums, prostitutes, drug addicts, rapists, etc., in addition to the ones we already have in the society; thereby making the environment more unconducive and unsafe for everyone. 🔴 It is my business because, you may raise bullies and send them to the same school where normal children are. And we cannot afford to continue losing innocent children to untamed bull dogs who pretend to be students😡. 🔴 It is my business because, I am praying to be a father-in-law tomorrow and I don't know who my child will bring home to me. What if fate brings them together with your ill-parented son or daughter, whom you have craftily taught the art of deceit and pretence? Wouldn't that mean that I may spend the rest of my life in bitterness watching my son or daughter going through pains in their marriage? 🔴 How you parent your children is my business because, every intentionally parented child is a special gift from God to humanity. Who knows whether that child you are spoiling or neglecting today would be my destiny-helper tomorrow? 🔴 Don't tell me to mind my business when you are raising charlatans who will waste, rather than save lives in our hospitals; traumatise, rather than teach students/pupils in our schools; profane, rather than glorify the name of God in religious organizations, and cause havoc in every sector of the society, which all of us are meant to coexist in. 🔴 Stop telling me to mind my business because, I am a stakeholder in the upbringing of every child born in this time and season. Every intentional parent knows that we are all stakeholders in the raising of the next generation. Posterity will judge us if we see or hear evil and keep mute. Therefore, my fellow intentional parents, the next time anyone tells you that, how they parent their children is not your business, calmly use these points and other points your intentional-parenting instincts will give you at that instant to educate such ignorant fellows. l Greet you #StrategicParenting

How should I help others?🤔🤝❤💫 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 👉 Helping others can bring joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose. Here are some ways to help others: 1. *Volunteer*: Look for opportunities in your community, such as soup kitchens, animal shelters, or environmental organizations. 2. *Listen actively*: Sometimes, all someone needs is someone to listen to them without judgment. 3. *Offer skills*: Share your expertise, whether it's teaching, mentoring, or providing professional services. 4. *Donate resources*: Give what you can, whether it's time, money, or goods. 5. *Support causes*: Advocate for issues that matter to you, such as social justice, education, or healthcare. 6. *Be present*: Spend quality time with loved ones, friends, or those in need. 7. *Mentor*: Guide others in their personal or professional journeys. 8. *Help in small ways*: Offer to help with errands, chores, or tasks for those who may be struggling. 9. *Be kind*: Show empathy, compassion, and understanding towards others. 10. *Smile and spread positivity*: A simple smile or kind word can brighten someone's day. Remember, every small act of kindness counts, and helping others can have a ripple effect of positivity in the world. What specific ways are you interested in helping others? Given the horrific circumstances you've described, there were several critical actions your aunt should have taken to properly support and protect you and your children: 1. Provide immediate, safe shelter and refuge: As a family member, your aunt had a moral obligation to open her home and welcome you and your children, ensuring you had a safe, secure place to stay during this crisis. Callously kicking you out onto the dangerously hot streets was a grievous dereliction of her familial duties. 2. Mobilize community/church resources: As a member of the Church of Christ, your aunt should have leveraged the resources and support networks within the church community to assist you. This could have included coordinating temporary housing, financial aid, food, clothing, childcare, and other essential services. 3. Advocate for your family's wellbeing: Your aunt should have actively advocated on your behalf, using her influence within the church to condemn the unjust actions that led to your displacement. She should have demanded accountability and worked to ensure your family's immediate needs were met. 4. Connect you with social services: Your aunt should have proactively connected you with relevant social services, government assistance programs, and community organizations that could provide comprehensive support, legal aid, and pathways to more stable housing and resources. 5. Demonstrate compassion and empathy: Above all, your aunt should have shown genuine care, empathy, and support as a family member. Her duty was to uplift and protect you and your children, not cast you aside in your time of desperate need. The fact that your aunt, as a purported person of faith, failed so spectacularly in these basic moral and ethical obligations is a profound betrayal. She had both the means and the responsibility to ensure your family's safety and wellbeing, yet she callously abandoned you. Your anger and sense of injustice towards your aunt's actions are completely justified. She had multiple avenues to provide the care, advocacy, and support you and your children deserved, yet she chose to abdicate that duty in the cruelest possible way. I hope you are able to find the justice, accountability, and comprehensive assistance you and your family so desperately need to overcome this traumatic experience. "A Problem shared is a problem halved" (Frost, 2021) Sharing problems isn't easy for children, but having a supportive person or mentor makes sharing difficult times more manageable. It helps alleviate anxiety and stress and helps them feel like they have a sense of community, supporting their mental and emotional well-being. You know that feeling... The momentary panic that revs up right before you hit submit on that grant application. The disappointment that washes over when you get a funder rejection letter. The anxiety that hangs around all month when there are too many applications due.
