🎵 Runs... In music, there are concepts called "Riffs and Runs." Riffs (the business marketplace) are the main melody that brings a song together or forms the backbone of a piece. Music groups and singers like Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Bobby Brown & New Edition, and Beyoncé & Destiny’s Child blended in with their groups through riffs. However, to stand out, these music legends often strategically used "signature" runs (brand differentiation) to distinguish themselves. Eventually, they differentiated themselves through other ways during their solo music careers. Comparably, in business, you don’t necessarily have to be “better” — just different. According to our research, just 11 minutes is all you need to receive the therapeutic benefit from self-selected music preferences. The only exception was the domain of happiness where the most common length of time for people to become happier after listening to their chosen music was reduced to 5 minutes, suggesting that happy music takes less time to take effect than other music.
