Shrieve’s Manuel Muñoz Alonso Presents at #CYTEF 2024 Shrieve Senior Application Engineer, Manuel Muñoz Alonso, presented at the XII Congreso Ibérico y X Congreso Iberoamericano de Ciencias y Técnicas del Frío – The 12th Iberian Congress and 10th Ibero-American Congress of Cold Sciences and Techniques, which took place from June 26-28, 2024. This esteemed conference, organized by the Spanish Society of Refrigeration Technologies (SECYTEF), brought together top researchers, professors, and industry experts to discuss sustainable refrigeration technologies. Manuel's lecture focused on "High Temperature Heat Pumps, Hydrocarbon Refrigerants, and Appropriate Lubricant Selection for Improved Efficiency." He highlighted the critical role of understanding lubricant-refrigerant interactions to extend the operational boundaries of heat pumps, enabling the use of industrial waste heat effectively. His presentation offered practical insights on selecting the right lubricant grades and chemistries for both reciprocating and screw compressors, showcasing real-world examples and applications. 🔊 I presented my latest research today at Instytut Maszyn Przepływowych im. R. Szewalskiego, Polska Akademia Nauk (IMP PAN) on the topic of "Selection of working fluid and operating parameters for a refrigeration production system using low temperature waste heat" (🇵🇱"Dobór czynnika roboczego i parametrów pracy układu produkcji chłodu z niskotemperaturowego ciepła odpadowego"). This work is part of the COOLERHEAT project under the LIDERXIV programme, funded by Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju 🔍 In this study, five environmentally friendly working fluids (low GWP and ODP) were analysed in both single and dual fluid configurations. The results demonstrate that the system's efficiency (EEF) can reach up to 1, depending on operational constraints and configuration. Excited to share highlights from the 2024 NCASI Conference, showcasing our strong commitment to supporting the forest products industry through impactful solutions. NCASI Air Quality Program covered a wide range of topics at the Conference. We explored innovative methods for managing reduced sulfur compounds, discussed best practices for navigating air toxic emissions permitting, and received important updates from the EPA on pulp mill information collection requests. Insights from the Washington Department of Ecology clarified local regulatory impacts, while the Oregon DEQ emphasized quality assurance in PM2.5 sensor networks, highlighting the importance of accurate data collection. A key focus was NCASI collaboration with state agencies on the evaluation of low-cost PM2.5 sensors. Additionally, our work on particle size analysis methods was highlighted as a valuable tool for PM2.5 compliance, helping the industry meet regulatory standards effectively.
