Risk vs Reward: PR stunts Recently, we took another leap into the world of publicity stunts to unveil the opening date of Nemesis Reborn at Alton Towers Resort. Bold moves like PR stunts can really elevate your comms strategy and drive great brand awareness. But, they are a risk and so to be truly successful it has to be a calculated risk which factors in uniqueness, purpose and fun! And even with all these factors considered, there are still no guarantees. There is still no control over contributing key factors (like any breaking news). Working with our agency partner to look at how we could achieve a stunt that aligned to our brand, captured the rides rich story and delivered key results as part of a wider campaign, we were able to achieve a headline grabbing activation that’s already achieved +150 pieces of coverage in just 24 hours. It struck the right balance between risk and reward. This calculated risk amplified excitement, generated buzz and engagement, as well as set the stage for an unforgettable experience when the ride returns March 16. Our extended team at Smoking Gun Agency who put up with our madness (last minute duck requests included) and ensure we are able to bring a plan on paper to life - no matter how big or bold!
