Supporting Europe's Circular Economy Goals! This year, European Commission announced the #TransitionPathway for the #ChemicalIndustry, presenting a collaborative framework that acts as a guide to achieve the objectives of EU's #GreenDeal. By 2050, the European chemicals sector is set to achieve climate neutrality, promote circular practices, digitize operations, and transition to safe and sustainable chemicals. The U.S. Plastics Pact launched Roadmap 2.0 in early June focused on creating a sustainable, circular economy for plastics. Joining more than 132 other Activators, CSI is excited to be a part of the collaboration to remake our waste stream from a linear to a circular stream. The US Plastics Pact’s Roadmap 2.0, released earlier this month, begins where Roadmap to 2025 ends — carrying forward Targets, Outcomes, and Deliverables not yet fully achieved, and pushing further those that have been successful. More than 132 Activators are working to increase their usage of Post Consumer Recycled Content (PCR) and in turn, decrease their usage of virgin plastic. Strong and consistent demand for PCR is a key component in a circular economy. The U.S. Pact’s PCR Toolkit was created to assist companies in making that conversion and taking an important step toward circularity. In 2021, we made a public pledge to ensure that all our operations are carbon neutral by 2050. To realize these ambitions, Energy Efficiency and Carbon Management (EECM) and representatives from all our businesses and Corporate Sustainability worked to develop SABIC’s Carbon Neutrality Roadmap.   The Roadmap establishes the overarching vision for achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and an interim target of reducing GHG emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 20% by 2030 (from a baseline of 2018). Alongside SABIC’s ongoing emphasis on circular and renewable feedstock, the Roadmap also identifies five primary pathways to achieving net zero carbon emissions: reliability, energy efficiency, and improvements; renewable energy; electrification; carbon capture; and green/blue hydrogen. #SABIC
