Kauvery cum Biosis my acquaintance: Seventeen years ago, upon completing my initial 20-year bond with the IAF, the opportunity for a Manager Nursing position at Kauvery, then known as KMC, caught my attention. The organization's logo, which conveyed "People caring for people," greatly influenced my perception. During the interview, conducted by the founders themselves, their confidence in the company's growth and their encouragement for me to be part of the journey left a lasting impression. Despite taking a day to confirm the offer, I eventually trusted my intuition, accepted the position, and joined the organization on August 14, 2007. Reflecting on my experience in this same joining month, I take pride in the transparency displayed by the leaders at the top of the organizational hierarchy. Their responsiveness to employees and teams is a spectacular demonstration of leadership. Just as valor is crucial in the armed forces, honor and loyalty have become indispensable for individuals within this organization, shaping its distinctive culture based on strong values. Recognition for my contributions has been forthcoming, and the freedom to work and make decisions in alignment with cultural norms underscores the professionalism that empowers me. In this organization, the culture not only upholds values but also allows for individual empowerment. In addressing the inevitability of change, we neither force nor resist it; instead, we are prepared to adapt. The force of change and our willingness to embrace it contribute to the resilience of our culture. This event reminds us of the importance of acknowledging not only successes but also the positive impact a colleague has on their team and the company culture, celebrating both achievements and personal qualities. All of these Psychologists have certainly made important contributions. But using citation metrics to rank "Top" scientists ignores the many other ways that scientists contribute to or harm scientific progress. As we've recently seen in various fraud and questionnable research practice investigations in the behavioral sciences, some scientists may look astounding on a limited number of dimensions such as citations or publications, but pollute the scientific literature with unreliable research or as toxic mentors and colleagues. By focusing on individual achievements, such metrics incentivize scientists to do whatever is best for their careers, regardless of what is best for science. We need to move towards a system when scientists are rewarded or punished for their entire range of contributions to science, not just their individual achievements.
