In 2023, 8.8 million Californians experienced food insecurity. This means that nearly 1 in every 4 individuals are unsure where their next meal will come from. Every year, lawyers across the state come together to try to provide critical funds to local food banks. So please join us in donating to your local food bank. If you don't have one, please consider donating to our firm's local food bank. Contra Costa County often receives far less resources than San Francisco and Alameda. But Contra Costa County has areas of significant need, including Richmond, Concord, and Pittsburg. https://lnkd.in/gYviBwzJ

No one should have to choose between feeding their families and other basic necessities. Organizations such as those gathered at the Capitol today fulfill a vital role in our community: ensuring that all people have access to fresh, healthy food. Thanks to their tireless efforts, we can work towards a Wisconsin where no one goes hungry. Ensuring that everyone has the ability to feed their families should be a top priority in our state. That is why it is essential that we provide food pantries and other food service organizations with the necessary resources to carry out their essential mission. As demand for their services increases, so should our support of their efforts. The time is now to act in alignment with our values. It is not enough to say that all people deserve to have food on the table – we need to ensure that food makes it there. That is why I am proud to stand beside each and every one of these vital organizations and uplift their call for additional funding and resources so they can continue to serve our communities. Only by working together can we create a more fair and equitable Wisconsin where everyone has what they need to grow and thrive.
This morning, a coalition of more than 30 Dane County food pantries, including WayForward, released a letter to the community, sounding an alarm about the rising demand for assistance and the need for both immediate community support and longer-term solutions to fill the gap. Please read and share this message with your networks! Thank you to United Way of Dane County and Wisconsin State Journal for co-sponsoring this full-page message in today's edition of the newspaper. During our last community kitchen event, something remarkable happened. As we were distributing meals, we unexpectedly ran out of takeaway packs. Rushing to a nearby store to get more, we met Olamilekan a food vendor. Instead of accepting payment, Olamilekan chose to donate the packs to us. He was deeply moved by our efforts, something he had never seen in his community before, and wanted to be a part of it. Even if he was selling food , he didn’t feel uncomfortable about us giving out food around him. We salute Olamilekan’s generosity and his willingness to support his community. Now, imagine a world filled with more people like Olamilekan—where sharing and giving back are the norms, and everyone has enough to eat. This vision is within our reach, but it starts with each of us. Be like Olamilekan. Donate today, and together, we can make this a reality. #foodcliquesupport #sdg2030 #zerohunger #sdg2 #hungerheroes #endinghunger #foodsystem #charity #donation #socialimpact

This Easter, as we celebrate with our loved ones, let's extend the spirit of giving and support those in need in our community. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, with its branch here in Ocala, works tirelessly to fight hunger and ensure everyone has access to nutritious food. Here are ways you can contribute: ✅ Donate non-perishable food items: Canned goods, pasta, rice, and protein sources are always in high demand. ✅ Organize a small food drive: Gather donations from your family, friends, or colleagues. Check with Second Harvest for drop-off locations or potential donation drives happening near you. ✅ Make a financial contribution: Even a small donation can have a significant impact in providing meals to families in need. Every act of generosity, big or small, makes a difference. Let's join hands and ensure a brighter Easter for families facing food insecurity in Ocala. #SecondHarvestOcala #FightHunger #EasterGiving #OcalaCommunity P.S. National Director of Development, Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, Strategic storyteller, TED Speaker and Ambassador
Did you know that 1 in 8 Americans experience food insecurity while more than $200 billion is spent on food that will never be eaten? That’s billions of pounds of food wasted instead of going to those who need it. Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) aims to redistribute excess food to people experiencing food insecurity. RLC makes it easy for businesses to donate their excess food to their community and provides a reliable, professional food rescue service for our partners at an efficient cost. Join us at the Rescuing Leftover Cuisine Gala 2024 as we unite to end food insecurity. If you cannot attend, please donate to support the cause. At the Food Bank, we're witnessing a surge in neighbours who need our help, like Ross. Many are facing tough choices between groceries and basic expenses, hoping it's only a temporary measure. As Ross shared: 'I visit this location once a month for much-needed food, only until I get back on my feet.' Consider donating monthly or running a food drive. Your support can make a world of difference. Fewer than 10% of all households using the food bank are homeowners, but their numbers are quickly growing. https://lnkd.in/gtrAvx48 #FeedingCommunity #Donate #FoodDrive #Cbridge

One of the most common concerns we hear from potential food donors is the fear of liability—many worry about being sued if donated food unintentionally causes harm. Some even mistakenly think donating surplus food is illegal. Good news 📣 ✨️ The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act protects individuals, businesses, and nonprofits that donate food in good faith. Dispelling this myth encourages more food donations and less waste. Click the link below to learn more about how this law supports food recovery and help us spread the word! https://lnkd.in/eBtsY6hh #foodrescueus #foodrecovery #fooddonation #goodsamaritan
