On Monday, June 24th, SK On signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ExxonMobil for a lithium offtake agreement as part of its efforts to strengthen the #battery supply chain in the U.S. Through the collaboration, SK On will be able to secure up to 100,000 metric tons of lithium from ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions project in #Arkansas. SK On plans to use the supplied lithium for its battery manufacturing across the region. The company currently operates two electric vehicle battery plants in Commerce, Georgia, and is building four plants in #Tennessee, #Georgia, and #Kentucky through joint ventures with global #automakers. Park Jong-jin, Executive Vice President of Strategic Procurement at SK On, stated: “SK On has been working with global partners to secure key battery raw materials in a move to support our growing U.S. manufacturing base and lead #electrification.
