The pharmaceutical and life sciences industry is facing a looming talent crisis, with a projected 35% deficit by 2030. As the sector rapidly expands, traditional recruitment methods are proving inadequate. To address this challenge, consider these innovative approaches: 👉 Embrace Skills-Based Hiring: Prioritize candidates based on their skills and competencies rather than solely on academic qualifications to foster a #diverse and #innovative workforce. 👉 Expand Your Talent Pool: Seek out individuals with transferable skills from other sectors for non-clinical roles to inject fresh perspectives into your organization. 👉 Invest in Future Talent: Implement structured apprenticeship programs to cultivate a tailored talent pipeline, enhancing retention and career growth. https://lnkd.in/geDad5m5

👊 Challenging the norms of hiring in Life Sciences*… 🤔 What are the norms of hiring in Life Sciences? And WHY are they? 🕵♂️ 🕵♀️ 🕵♂️ Engaging several agencies at once to help you hire: Two agencies has to be better than one, right? And three, better than two? When you need fast results, or are trying to find that one special needle in a haystack. More people looking, means better results, right? No. ↘ Service Quality – Sure most agencies will still work the job. One of them might even get lucky and fill it quickly. But what happens in reality is most agencies will not prioritize the position, they’ll cut corners, and they certainly won’t make the time to do their full due diligence on the chance of maybe filling the job 30% of the time. What they will do is prioritize their high-commitment clients over your process. ↘ Branding – Your company looks like it has lots of challenges attracting people, and your role is less desirable to candidates, if they’re getting multiple calls about the same position. ⌛ Time – 45 minute discovery call, with 3 agencies. Review 3 CV’s from each. Another 3 feedback and next step calls. 5 x 1 hour interviews from 9 CVs. Another 2-3 debrief calls with the agencies. You’ve just lost days. Oh and the candidate you want is interviewing elsewhere because he’s not banking on securing this role based on all the above. Hopefully your job is the best otherwise its back to square one. Try normalizing 1 (or 2) agencies per process. Exclusive agreements. Retained searches if you really want the best service. A lot of this is becoming, (or has become with some businesses); the new normal. If this isn’t the case in your business, consider challenging the norms of hiring in Life Sciences. *Part 3 #lifesciencesrecruitment
