Employee Spotlight: Trevor Smith In celebration of Manufacturing Month, we’re excited to feature Trevor Smith, a Maintenance Technician at Berry Global with 8.5 years of experience in the industry! Check out his insights below: Position: Maintenance Technician Company: Berry Global, Inc. Years in Manufacturing: 8.5 years Q: What kind of jobs have you worked in Manufacturing? Trevor: Electronics Technician with Howard Industries Process Technician and Maintenance Technician with Berry Global Q: What made you want to get into Manufacturing? Trevor: I found the process of taking individual raw materials and combining them in such a way that they become a product consumers can use in their everyday lives. Q: What is something you think most people don’t know or understand about the Manufacturing Industry? Trevor: There is more precision required in the setup of the equipment to allow high speed, mass production to be possible than most people think. If your setup is more than .001 of an inch off, in some situations, the equipment will not run at all. Q: What is your favorite aspect of your job? Trevor: I would say the satisfaction of tearing down a broken piece of equipment to an empty shell, rebuilding it, and having it work exactly how it’s supposed to. Q: What advice would you give someone who is interested in working in the Manufacturing industry? Trevor: Don’t beat yourself up if, after 3-6 months, you still don’t understand what’s going on or are still struggling with the job. This is an extremely fast-paced industry and the amount of moving parts involved can be overwhelming at times. Pay attention and learn as much as you can about how certain manufacturing equipment is supposed to run, and it will make it easier for you to spot when a malfunction begins so you can correct it before it becomes catastrophic. #ManufacturingMonth #EmployeeSpotlight #PRCC #Manufacturing

Technical Operator (ODP 2) at The Nigerian Bottling Company Limited Coca-cola. Student @altschoolafrica.com(cloud engineering)
To all technical operators, maintenance technician and specialist. What's line time study on production equipment? Line time study on production equipment involves observing and analyzing the time taken by each step or operation in a manufacturing process. It aims to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or areas for improvement in order to optimize production output, reduce cycle times, and increase overall efficiency. This method typically involves recording data on the time taken for each task, including setup, processing, and downtime, and then using this information to make informed decisions about process improvements. After carrying out line time what next, needs to be done by the team? After carrying out a line time study on production equipment, the next steps typically involve: 1. Analysis of Data: Review and analyze the data collected during the time study. Identify any patterns, trends, or areas of concern, such as bottlenecks, excessive downtime, or inefficient processes. 2. Identify Improvement Opportunities: Use the findings from the analysis to identify specific areas where improvements can be made. This may involve reducing setup times, optimizing workflow, addressing equipment issues, or implementing process changes. 3. Develop Action Plan: Develop a comprehensive action plan outlining the steps needed to address the identified improvement opportunities. Prioritize these actions based on their potential impact and feasibility. 4. Implement Changes: Implement the planned improvements, which may include updating procedures, training employees, reconfiguring equipment layout, or investing in new technology. 5. Monitor and Evaluate: Continuously monitor the production line after implementing changes to assess their effectiveness. Collect additional data to measure improvements in cycle times, productivity, quality, and overall efficiency. 6. Iterate and Refine: Use ongoing monitoring and feedback to refine the processes further and make additional improvements as needed. Continuous improvement is a key aspect of optimizing production lines. By following these steps, organizations can systematically identify and address inefficiencies in their production processes, leading to increased productivity, reduced costs, and improved overall performance. Can this line time study be carried out by the technical operators on each production equipment? Yes, line time studies can be carried out by technical operators on each production equipment. In fact, involving the operators directly in the time study process can yield valuable insights and increase their engagement in improving the production process. Technical operators are intimately familiar with the equipment and its operation, making them well-positioned to accurately record data on setup times, processing times, and downtime. A technician without the correct tools to do the job is not a technician you want on your site. This is what happens when a technician shows up without the proper tools to do the job. Check your menu boards for damage or call us direct to ensure quality service and avoid pretend technicians. Here's what happened, The technician attempts to open the menu and ultimately strips the screw because they don't have the correct keys or secure bit. Perhaps they have the torque set too high on the drill and ultimately strip the Aluminum screw head, followed by drilling out the broken stripped screw because they don't have an extractor or replacement screws. Your menu boards are a significant investment and should be treated with more care and respect. At Safety-Tox Diagnostics we have the tools to access your Melitron menu boards to get your job done right the first time fast without a return trip damage and or additional costs. In the event a screw is stripped from a previous technician we carry an extractor and new replacement screws to re-assemble your menu Boards. If you are having issues with your drive through, just reach out to us to get the job done right the first time. We carry the needed tools, equipment on our trucks including spares. Its just that simple and a reflection of our commitment to keep you up and running.
