WHAT do I see as the biggest show stopper for The Energy Efficiency Journey?.... Last week, during the #DanishRoyalvisit to Poland, I was invited to do an "inspirational talk" at High Level Energy Round Table discussion taking place at Raffles Europejski Warsaw. The topic: “Potentials for Energy Efficiency in Industry”. The talk's purpose was to kick-start a session of group discsussions 🗣📢   The Green Transition & Energy Efficiency journey both requires and brings forth a lot of new businesses and more job opportunities 💪💯 However, from my chair, I see a huge challenge in realization of these potentials due to the lack of qualified and available labour in EU👩💻👷🏻♀️👨🏿🏭. The unemployment rate in Poland and Denmark is extremely low, and already now we are struggling to find the needed workforce‼ So from my point of view, if we are to design, produce and install all the fantastic new technology needed for the EE journey, then we must secure the availability of competent Manpower ✅🌍 I have no doubt that the "will" is there - So is the economy💰 but if all this that we say we must be realized, so that we can reach the 2030 goal of 70% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, then we need to secure "BRAINS" 🧠 and "HANDS" 🖐🏻🖐🏼🖐🏿, who can help us reach these goals! The fact that we, Eryk, were able to obtain the brains & hands demanded by the market, is the reason why we have been able to grow from 0-300 employees during the last 20 years! The question is, can this continue?... YES, but we must utilize the full potential of all people, across borders, and offer them and ourselves a better future. EDUCATION IS VITAL! Humor is our second language.   They say laughter is universal, and here at Ignitis Renewables, it's practically our second language. Why? 🤔   I often tell new colleagues that our team has a good sense of humor, but what does that really mean? It means we create a safe, trusting, and fun workplace. We try to keep our internal communication informal, giving everyone the freedom to speak and share. 🌱   Humor connects people, decreases tension, and creates a history of inside jokes that bring us closer together. We never miss a chance for a good laugh! 😁 Fun workplace is more productive and less stressful.   I also often say that if you're having a bad day, open our Teams Channel and read the comments. We use humor in our daily communication - it gets people to stop and pay attention, and it can also make your message more memorable. 💡   So, humor costs us nothing, but it's truly an asset. Yesterday I had the chance to share some highlights from our culture journey with colleagues at the Fortum European Council. A few comments and reflections keep spinning in my head after the very enjoyable conversation: 💡”NOW I get it! It makes a lot of sense that we need to develop these new culture priorities!” That’s so fulfilling to hear, and at the same time I so wish we would have been able to explain it better much earlier, but it also takes time to crystallize the key messages and gain clear, strong evidence and proof points. ❓”You look always so calm and composed…how do you feel about the journey?” First, that really sparked a genuine smile not only on my face, but also for some colleagues with whom we work more frequently. 😁 ⚖️ I have mixed feelings, swinging all the way between incredible excitement when we feel people are energized to join the journey, and deep frustration when there is pushed back because life happens and priorities change. ⏳ The very difficult part is trying to strike the right balance. Which also reminded me of the saying I’ve learned in previous transformations: “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you you want to go far, go together”. 🫣 And no, I’m not always calm and composed. But I’m working on it. 💪🏽 #elevatingperformance #thehumanway
