🌼 The midsummer escape may well have begun, but here's a few thoughts for the sunny weekend:   According to research, women generate 78 cents in average of revenue per dollar invested, compared to 31 cents for the men, so one doesn’t need to be Einstein to realise, that tackling the existing funding gap isn’t just a moral question, but an enormous untapped opportunity for investors, as well as a very potential boost for the economy.   However, at moments there seems to remain what seems as an almost overwhelming effort to be made around the funding discrepancy, yet I keep urging that complaining and whining (still) won’t help; it’s action that needs to be taken, and rather consistently, even if it is only one small step at the time. One such action is, among many, many others, the creation of solid networks of support. You can well imagine, that as a result of the funding discrepancy, female entrepreneurs lack equal opportunities to innovate and build companies that can become successful, and thus contribute to our economy.   Gaining access to strong networks and networking opportunities, as well as having the chance to build relationships that extend beyond conversations around financing is vital to the success of any (startup) company. Gatherings and networking events can facilitate the development of connections and social networks that could support women entrepreneurs on their journey.  Support networks play an extremely important part that could help guide and motivate women who require financing to do so and help them work on delivering their ideas. Education around the financing process could potentially help reduce the bias and financing gap women. Equally, boosting women’s understanding of how they may be perceived, and what they can do to improve that perception, are also keys to enhance success.   That’s what we’re here to work on with Shevestments, among many, many other things -for I believe in the untapped potential of women everywhere in the world. 🌍 We are cooking together some extraordinary events for after summer, so do stay tuned for more information soon! Last Thursday, I brought my four-year-old to our Founders and Funders Fusion event. And guess what? She said hi to every investor, industry leader, and strategic partner in the room. Here's the reality: most industry networking happens in the evening, putting parents—especially working moms—at a disadvantage. It's a system that needs rethinking. When social mobility it high, it means people can move up the social and economic ladder, regardless of their starting point. This leads to a more dynamic and diverse workforce, reduces inequality, fosters a greater sense of social cohesion, community well-being and contribute to the overall growth and stability within the city.
