Dechert advised the shareholders of smaXtec on the successful investment led by KKR, alongside technology investor Highland Europe and certain existing shareholders. smaXtec provides a leading monitoring platform that revolutionizes dairy farming by improving efficiency and supporting animal health with its unique technology. KKR’s operational expertise will help leverage smaXtec’s platform to scale as a leader in agricultural technology. The Munich-based Dechert team was led by private equity partner Dominik Stühler and Counsel Tobias Hugo and included corporate partners Giovanni Russo and Dr. Kai Terstiege and corporate associates Adriana Worms and Georg Littmann. The team also included Brussels/Frankfurt-based antitrust partner Clemens Graf York von Wartenburg and associate Isabella Egetenmeir. Lever VC has made its first investment from Fund II into HerdDogg, Inc.'s Series A4 round. Herddogg, a smart ear tag company, uses advanced data analytics to monitor cows' internal body temperature, movement, and acceleration, enabling early disease detection and significantly reducing on-farm mortality. By lowering mortality rates, Herddogg's technology can reduce the number of cows in the beef and dairy supply chain, thus cutting methane emissions. Herddogg closed its $6M round last week and has doubled the number of ear tags deployed across the US and Australia in the past two months, enhancing sustainability and traceability in the industry. With overwhelming interest in our mastitis detection technology QuadSense, we are excited to have secured a $940,000 capital investment to help get it to dairy farmers sooner and meet the significant increase in demand. This capital round has been led by venture capital investor, Pacific Channel alongside Enterprise Angels , MIG Angels, and NZVC. It follows an initial $750,000 investment from Pacific Channel. We have been blown away by the interest we’ve had in QuadSense, including at last week’s Fieldays. It is clear that dairy farmers see it as a user-friendly, affordable solution to mastitis detection that’s easy to install and use. Before Fieldays, more than 450 farmers had already registered their interest in our product and 400 units were already pre-ordered by New Zealand farmers. This injection of capital will help us ramp up production, accelerate sales and get QuadSense into the hands of more dairy farmers, so they can take control of mastitis and protect their profitability and animal health. These innovations offer data to predict carcase quality, helping farmers and processors make informed decisions and boost efficiency.
