AN INSIDE LOOK OF PROJECT MASTER AT MYS!
At this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, in a captivating interview, Business ICON Yachts Development Manager, Marek Hasenkopf and Marketing Manager Rebecca Budel together with JMS Operations Director, Rob Pijper shared their insights on the project’s inspirations, recent updates, and the strategic choices that set it apart.
Here’s what we learned about the journey from vision to reality.
🔸 The Inspiration Behind Project Master’s
Interior Design
When asked about the inspiration behind the interior design, Marek emphasized that the look and feel of Project Master was crafted by Winch Design with natural products and colours. The theme was inspired by ocean layers and the special attribute is the galley exclusively reserved for guests.
🔸 The major developments which have occurred
The team has made significant strides in the structural construction of Project Master. Key updates include the completion of a major steel phase, with the new 12-meter stern section now successfully added. Following this, all main accommodation blocks will be integrated, with a projected timeline for the yacht’s structural completion by the end of the year.
🔸 Choosing the Donor Vessel
Some have questioned the choice of donor vessel, particularly with regard to its hull shape and fuel efficiency. However, the team clarified that this particular vessel was selected for several reasons: its substantial fuel capacity, its structural rigidity ideal for withstanding exploration in remote areas, and its efficient fuel consumption despite its larger beam.
🔸Future-proofing for sustainability
Looking ahead, the vessel’s propulsion system has been designed to be future-proof, with an advanced electric grid that will contribute to its environmentally sustainable profile. The hybrid system is intended to be adaptable to future innovations in energy efficiency, further enhancing the yacht’s eco-friendly impact.
🔸 What are the next steps in the build?
As the structural work nears completion, the team will focus on finalising the hull and advancing the electrical systems showcasing a vessel that combines comfort with exploration-ready resilience.
Project Master promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the yachting world, stay tuned, we can't wait to share more!

New yachts, very often semi-custom, still enjoy high demand. A semi-custom yacht has the advantage that the layout and the nautical engineering already exist and often the hull has already been built.
As a customer, you can still determine many factors yourself, such as the interior, the engines and the color etc. In addition, the yacht can be completed in a short time.
When buying, rely on experienced professionals who have already sailed many different types of yachts themselves.
They can advise you from their own experience. You only realize how good a yacht is after some time at sea.
With a lot of experience, important factors can already be tailored to you as a customer during the construction phase.
Rely on 40 years of experience with yachts at sea:

Building a luxury cruise ship typically takes several years due to its intricate design and construction requirements. The process begins with detailed design and engineering, which involve sophisticated technology and high-quality materials to ensure safety and luxury. Construction involves assembling numerous complex systems, including propulsion, navigation, and entertainment, while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards. Custom interiors, such as luxury suites, fine dining venues, and extensive recreational facilities, require precise craftsmanship. Additionally, rigorous testing, including sea trials and safety checks, ensures everything functions correctly before the ship’s maiden voyage. Coordinating these multifaceted aspects and ensuring top-notch quality and safety contribute to the extended construction timeline.
