Last Friday, the Winch Design team came together for an inspiring Away Day at the iconic Royal Academy of Arts. The morning kicked off with engaging departmental presentations, setting the tone for a day of creativity and collaboration. We were thrilled to welcome the brilliant Georgie Holt, who delivered an inspirational talk followed by an insightful Q&A session. Her discussion on the 1% theory sparked fresh ideas and motivated us to explore how small, consistent improvements can make a big impact on our daily work. The afternoon brought an exciting challenge as the team worked in groups to build unique model structures inspired by their assigned keywords. This interactive activity fostered creativity, teamwork, and plenty of laughs. A big thank you to the Royal Academy of Arts for hosting us and to Georgie for making the day so memorable.

Winch Design is a multi-disciplinary design studio creating visionary projects on land, in the air and at sea.
About us
Winch Design is an award-winning design studio, established in 1986 as a specialist exterior and interior yacht designer, by Andrew Winch and his wife Jane. With the focus on extremely high-end bespoke, dynamic design for a worldwide client base, Winch Design is now recognised as one of the leading International design and architectural studios, having added Aviation, Architecture and Interiors teams to the core yacht business. Over the years, Winch Design has established itself as the go-to design studio for individuals who expect not only the highest levels of design excellence but also a totally bespoke, integrated approach, individually tailored to their lifestyle, whether it is a home, yacht, private jet, helicopter or train! There is no house style and the scope of work is broad, to reflect each client’s dreams. Similarly, the personalities and talents of the 100-strong team are individual yet coming from the same premise. The Winch Ethos is predicated on certain values, initiated by Andrew Winch over thirty years ago, and now upheld by all: the importance of creating spatial energy and emotion, of designing spaces that are balanced, beautiful and uplifting and of always being inquisitive for more knowledge.

October was a busy month for our Winch team, with much volunteering and fundraising for the wonderful charities and organisations we support. Blessed with winter sun while clearing leaves and planting hundreds of bulbs, working alongside resident gardener Rose, we completed a number of therapeutic gardening days at Maggie's West London. Again, blessed with wonderful weather, a team of Winch runners completed the Royal Parks half marathon supporting QEST - Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust and UKSA.

In a recent video interview shot on our stand at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Jim Dixon of Winch Design articulates the profound pride and significance of securing two prestigious awards for the remarkable vessel, Sparta, at the International Superyacht Society (ISS). Dixon’s insights illuminate not just the accolades themselves, but the dedication and innovation that underpin such achievements in the world of luxury yachting. These awards are a testament to the collaborative spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence that define the Heesen ethos. An inspiring evening at our new studio, which didn't disappoint!
A few weeks ago, Winch Design kindly hosted our latest Sessions event. We welcomed 16 young creatives from underrepresented backgrounds for an evening of mentoring and an interiors materials moodboard workshop. It was brilliant to see how the various sectors at Winch all come come together into one creative space. — Thank you to Kirsten Hill (and Emily Foster for the introduction) 🙏🏽, and to the wonderful Winch Design mentors — Tom Saxton, Jeremy Lewin, Lewis Jacques, Issy Metcalfe-Smith, Michal Baginski, and Lizzy Hart — for their invaluable support. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to Rebecca Fish from Populous and Hammad Haider from Foster + Partners. — NP: Since March 2020, we’ve engaged with over 725 individuals, and it’s partnerships like these that keep our community growing. Best, Dhruv & the Sessions Team 🙏🏽 #MentoringMatters #DiversityInArchitecture #EDI #InclusionMatters #WomenLeaders #DesignDiversity #EmpoweringYouth
