If you're organising sponsors for your next event - here's a question: "What's the actual cost of that sponsorship?" When hunting for sponsors, always remember to take into account the true cost of sponsorship. Pay attention to all the costs involved in acquiring and managing sponsors, such as design, marketing, and physical presence expenses, as well as your time to acquire them. And don't forget to consider the cost of administering sponsorship once it's secured. You don't want to get into a situation where many events find themselves with lots of low-value sponsorship deals that cost more to acquire and manage than they were worth. By valuing your sponsors and carefully evaluating your charges, you can ensure your event receives the support it deserves. #events #sponsorship

As we embark on a New Year - we wanted to outline some key challenges #sportspublishers #sportscontentmarketers will face. As a starting point - we feel that publishers will need to carefully navigate tentpole & non-tentpole revenue opportunities. Filling sponsorship inventory is always challenging. Creating sponsorship programs around tentpole events can aid direct sales efforts. However #sportsmarketers need to balance sponsorship sales with new technology in a way that builds loyalty and engagement. Doing so will help drive the sale of CPM inventory during NON-Tentpole events.

Joined a Webinar on Sports Sponsorships The best quote I heard this month 👇 Earlier this month, while the Olympic Games were in full swing, I joined an European Sponsorship Association (ESA) webinar. It featured an expert panel with top sponsors of the event. They discussed the uniqueness of Paris as a venue, the brand activations planned, and the goals they aim to achieve. During the Q&A, my question got picked: “What metrics are the most important to measure sponsorship success?” My favourite answer came from Terrence Burns. He chose not to answer with specific metrics. He simply said: "𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭, 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭." I couldn't agree more! Imagine this: after big investments, you walk into a board meeting with zero or the wrong data to prove success. Without the right KPIs, there won’t even be lessons learned.
