#NEW from #AAIC2023 | #Amyloid prediction models for use in the general population 🎥 🧠 Julia Neitzel, PhD, Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam Medical Center, discusses her recent research to develop #amyloid prediction models for use in the general population. Other studies have developed prediction models for #amyloid #pathology however, these typically utilize #clinical cohorts rather than population-based studies which are more applicable to the general population 🔎 Therefore, the group wanted to validate an #amyloid model in a prospective population-based study to determine if large clinical cohort-based models could be taken into a primary care setting ⭐ They demonstrated that Aβ prediction models including inexpensive and non-invasive measures were successfully applied to a general population-derived sample ⭐ The top performing model incorporated age, #apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 #genotype, family history of #dementia, and sex 🩺 ⭐ Within the top ten predictors of #amyloidpathology was #sleep behavior, which subsequently lead to the group to undertake a study investigating the influence of #sleep and activity rhythms on #amyloid #pathology 💤 Find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5kqTTEH #Dementia

After years of debate about whether or not astrocytes, a subtype of brain cells known as glial cells, can signal, researchers finally have an answer: yes, and no. As it turns out, both sides were correct—and incorrect. Over the years, discrepancies in conclusions resulted because the answer changed depending on which type of glial cells were used in the research. We see you Linden Clinics, preying on desperate families. Given that autism is an innate neurological difference it's very hard to see how stem cell therapy alone would make any difference. Diet and anti-inflammatory protocols can make a difference however, but only by addressing the impacts of comorbidities. It is possible that stem cell therapy may help with those but that should be made clear. It is so unethical to be claiming to cure autism when at best they are helping mitigate the impact of autistic comorbidities. How on earth can they even begin to claim to treat conditions that they demonstrably don't understand. Autistic people don't need a cure. We need medical care for the health conditions that can go with autism. Addressing those can make our impairments easier to deal with but we are still autistic. And erasing the positives of autism?
